5 of 5 thought this review was well written
DJ Khaled [WE THE BEST] is the DJ and sometimes the Producer for Fat Joe’s Terror Squad [WE FROM DA HOOD], and since the hit[LISTENN.... UP!] "We Takin Over", He has been in the [I'M FROM THE PROJECTS, THE GHETTOS ACROSS THE WORLD!] Hip-Hop spotlight, even though he doesn't rap a single line [I'M SO HOOD!], and doesn’t produce much at all.[LISTENN UP!]
You notice how annoying that paragraph was? You probably want to really punch me in the face right now. That is what the album is like, DJ Khaled's annoying screams and catch phrases fail to get anything across, and nearly ruin every song on the album. DJ Khaled got so many rappers and producers for this album, It could have been a big budget movie [WE THE BEST: THE MOVIE], Everything on the album is like that. At the beginning and end of the songs, Khaled has some useless screams and howls, and it demolishes nearly every song on this album, good or bad.
Sadly the songs themselves are hit/miss, mainly because of the guest list. "We Takin Over" works thanks to the serviceable beat and above average rhymes, along with a catchy Akon hook, but "Bitch I'm From Dade County" has so many guests, by the 4th rapper you won't even care who it is, and by the next guy you'll catch yourself skipping, no matter the circumstances. The rhymes from the guests are also a little under-par of what they normally do, mainly Lil Wayne on "S On My Chest", who provides a sub-par performance, mainly rapping about how he kisses his daddy, only help prove the gay rumors, and Beanie Sigel made an entire song just to promote his newest album. Rick Ross's performances are all very lazy and show just how mediocre Rick Ross really is, and Fat Joe's performances show all the arrogance of a 90s gangster rapper, with the writing ability of a mediocre southern rapper. Sad thing is, some of the laziest, worst guests, are the ones that appear the most.
There are songs that shine: "I'm So Hood" has some mighty fine production, along with a Trick Daddy verse that tells you he‘s from the mutha***ing hood, and a T-Pain hook with a whole truck load of ferocity, while "Brown Paper Bag" is equipped with the horns and violins of the Cool & Dre and both the Juelz Santana and Young Jeezy verses are well-equipped and well-written coke raps. Other than these and "We Takin Over", there are really no shining lights for this album. It's all really bored, cliché, southern rap mixed with loud annoying yelling by DJ Khaled, making the second half of the album some of the most boring hip-hop ever, especially the Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony song "The Originators", which is tiring to the point of taking a long nap.
So this album, despite it's shining lights, is ruined by DJ Khaled's annoying boasting, rappers shameful laziness, and overall cliché concepts. Not recommended unless your really looking for southern hip-hop, and willing to hear some screaming. If Khaled wanted to be honest about his album, he would have named it We The Sub Par, but it doesn’t have a real ring to it like We The Best, and We The Best is a much easier phrase to yell at the top of your lungs anyway.

Okay, who negged my review?!
| | | Great review. My roommate plays this all the time and I agree completely, there are a few good songs but his random yells are among the most annoying things in music that I can think of.
