| Summary: There are so many overwhelming problems with this album, it's not even funny. |
2 of 2 thought this review was well written
I always believe the hype for stuff like this. When I heard Canibus on the Lost Boyz album, I believed in the hype, and I among millions thought Canibus would deliver. Canibus delivered in the rhyme area about half the time, and as a battle rapper, though some tracks are complete misses, at least he knows how to look like he's kicking knowledge. Shame though, Canibus went with Wyclef Jean, and the unlikely pairing really didn't work, creating a very poor effort.
The album has some of the worst production hip-hop ever had. All the beats dread in boredom and feel really abysmal. The worst of the batch, How We Roll, has one of the dullest piano loops, along with an awkwardly placed sounding Ja Rule sample. The best production, Second Round K.O., features an obscure sample of a singer, with the mighty drum beat over it. All the beats feel old fashion in a really bad way.
The lyrics are a mixed bag all together. The lyrical content stays the same, murdering the wack MC’s. He does it in different levels of intensity, High and Low. Channel Zero is an exception to the lyrical content staying the same, as he spits about a weird conspiracy theory about the Government, and it gets a little obnoxious and lame. Buckingham Palace, he raps the same concept, but includes references to British things, it’s quite brilliant actually, if it weren’t for the choruses. Another glaring problem is that the hooks that Canibus does by himself are completely unbearable, and Buckingham Palace is the biggest example of that. What could be a great track (ignore the wack beat, please) is demolished by a chorus like “I Say Can I, You Say Bus/ Can I/ Bus!/Can I/ Bus”, it no longer seems or feels relevant. The sampled hooks also are pretty bad, with How We Roll samples Ja Rule, and that just says something within itself, Hype-Nitis has the dullest singers ever sampled.
If I really want to be honest here, everything here is bad, except for the lyrics. And the lyrics are a mixed bag, so this album is an incredible skip and is amazingly one of the worst debut albums I’ve ever heard.
The hooks, the beats, the production, the guests, everything other than the lyrics are horrible.
Best Tracks:
Buckingham Palace
Second Round K.O.
Patriots
Worst Tracks:
Rip Rock
Hype-Nitis
How We Roll
1.5 out of 5.

I thought that was a good review. Quick, but summed up how the album felt, I am not going to buy a copy of this.

Ah, another egotistical hip-hop/rnb artist. When will we be rid of them?!

The album has some of the worst production hip-hop ever had. Wyclef is to blame for this, and I think he was smoking a lot of Marley (If you don't get the joke, it's about weed). No production is powerful, none are unique, none are even good. The two decent productions Second Round K.O. and Whats Going On, and even they are ,to a fair degree, draining and boring. Want me to pick an example of the horrid and horrible productions? Okay here you go: Hype-Nitis has some of the dullest sampling work done, while the uncreative drum beat drags on puts any listener to sleep, caffeine or decaf. Need another, okay here you go: Rip Rock has one of the most repetitive guitar riffs, and gets obnoxious by 1:00, and sounds just unbearable at the end of the song.

TBH, this whole paragraph was somewhat unnecessary, when you could just say that the production is awful maybe in a few sentences and in a less redundant manner.
EDIT: That's much better than before.

| | | You are right about this album. I listened to this after hearing him referenced in some Eminem song a long time ago and I hated it.
