2 of 2 thought this review was well written
With Emilie Simon's debut and self-titled album, not many voices were raised to talk and manifest any kind of impression about the recently premiered artist. Vegetal, her second release is definitely better and way more ambitious. When you are a musician, audio engineer and have your own studio, like Emilie, the only thing missing is creativity and she has plenty of it, because Vegetal is superb.
The tasty and thick french she sings keeps on being a plus for us, people of America, which facilitates even more the enchanting of her songs over us. While music critics are anxiously looking for new bands/artists to be their new sweethearts to replace Bjork and Radiohead, and hyping average bands like the Arctic Monkeys; with pseudo reviewers at newspapers and magazines like Rolling Stone, dying for and sucking up to media-hurricanes like Britney Spears, saying how surprisingly good is the new album, no matter how much it sounds like elevator music, its no surprise why good bands are starting to just publish their work over the internet.
For us, who knows that The Guardian is full of *** and don't care about fugly junkies like Amy Winehouse, for us Vegetal was made. Gooble gabble, gooble gable, you are one of us, you are one of us. Did you ever imagined how Bjork would sound in a collaboration with Radiohead? Ever wondered what would be the result of Aphex Twin working with Emiliana Torrini? Pure orgasmic musical pleasure. If someone makes a list of the top 100 albums of the first decade from the new millennia and doesn't include this album at least in the top 25, I'll go and kick his balls.
Excellent composition, amazing programming, beautiful voice, well-thought lyrics, clever arrangements; all of that with its own mood, character and atmosphere. Technically perfect with its audio engineering and musically avant-garde without it's drawbacks. Emilie Simon and Vegetal are the reasons to become and audiophile and a music lover.
If you want proof of my words, listen to Sweet Blossom, and then you decide.

Digging: Miseration - Your Demons Their Angels
| | | I like Emilie Simon, her music is pretty cool for the most part. 9 of these tracks are on The Flower Book though, anyone know if there are significant differences between the two? Is this all in French?
Digging: Kayo Dot - Blue Lambency Downward

This is an awesome album. I wish it wasn't listed under "pop" because it's much more then that, but I guess that's as close as we can get with a description.
Digging: Lunascape - Innerside | | | willie is a massive tool just saying

With the amount of bullshit you constantly post, that means nothing coming from you. The only reason you haven't been banned is because of who you know. At least Tribes attempts to be relevant (mostly, I think). Just saying.
