Review Summary: Overall, there are a nice plethera of amazing songs, but there's also an annoying handful of bad songs. I feel the good greatly outweighs the bad, and
although i'd like to think of this as a classic album, the bad can't be ignored.
6 of 7 thought this review was well writtenToday, I decided I would review what I believe to be Weezer's most underrated CD, Maladroit. I then tried to choose between doing a track-by-track, or the everyday paragraph review. After little consideration, I realised that my choices are not just limited to those two formats, so I'm creating my own
reviewing format. Now I will explain how this format will work, if you simply do not care, skip the following paragraph.
My Maladroit review will be a kind of journal of my thoughts and opinions on the CD after casually listening to it twice each day for a few days. I will
point out my likes and dislikes each day and hopefully give you enough information to either buy it, or convince you to give it a second chance. For every
three things I find wrong with this album, the score will go down .5 (At the begining, the score will be a 5). For every ten good things, it will go up .5.
Enjoy.

Tuesday, September 19, 2006: My first thoughts today were that this album rocks harder and louder than any other Weezer CD. The
guitar is beastly, the drumming is pounding, the lyrics are as good as ever, and the bass is surprisingly good.
The Good:
American Gigolo is definitely the
crunchiest, hardest rocking song Weezer have ever, or probably will ever put out. The next track to catch my ears is track 4, entitled
Take Control.
It's got a good beat, great guitar playing throughout the song, and the vocals are absolutely amazing. Rivers sounds so desperate when singing "Take
Controooool." This song is full of emotion and raw intensity, truly one of Weezer's best, even better than some songs off of Pinkerton.
The Ugly:
Now that i've told you about what I loved during the first two listens, it's time for me to list what went wrong.
Death and Destruction is just
boring, some of the songs are way too short (The longest song is Slob, clocking in at a miniscule 3:08), and a few of the later songs are easily
forgotten and hard to pay attention to.
Total Score for the first day: 4.5

Wednsday, September 20, 2006: Unfortunately, my right headphone busted today, and I had to listen to the whole CD with just my left ear..
Anyways, today I tried to focus more on the last half of the CD, from Slob forward.
The Good:
Slob starts out well, the bass is really good (possibly the best bass playing on the album), overall it's one of the many great songs on Maladroit.
Burndt Jamb is the better of the slower songs, interesting vocals. I'm loving the old rock n roll feel of the song.
Fall Together picks back
up on the hard rock riffing that makes Maladroit so unique compared to their other CDs. It's just a big in-your-face kind of song, short but definitely
sweet. Another song I enjoyed quite much today was
Love Explosion. It's surely the greatest sing-along song on the album. "So jump out, jump out Get
your groove on. This one is for you So c'mon. Get out the house girl And give me a kiss." Amazing chorus..
The Ugly:
Well, there may be a good handful of amazing songs on here, but there is also a fair-share of not-so-great tunes.
Space Rock is uninteresting and
goes by before you even know
Burndt Jamb is over.
Possibilities is just down-right annoying. It plain sucks and what makes it worse is
that it will actually
stick in your mind for hours on in. Just brutal.
Total Score for the second day: 4

Overall, there are a nice plethera of amazing songs, but there's also an annoying handful of bad songs. I feel the good greatly outweighs the bad, and
although i'd like to think of this as a classic album, the bad can't be ignored, as they greatly disrupt the flow of the CD.
Recommended Tracks:

-Some truly stellar works.
Cons:
-A few bad songs disrupt the flow of the CD.
