Review Summary: Try to imagine Jack Black from Tenacious D, worshipping the Gods of Heavy metal in a King Diamond/Gene Simmons suit!
“I am humbled by the fact that true musical connoisseurs, that is, Metal Heads, seem to be enjoying my work. It is for these die hard metal fans that I live, they are like the bees who polinate my very flower. So to speak.”
I’ve never heard before of Henry Metal, that’s why I turned to google and read a very funny, though interesting interview he gave regarding the release of “So it hath begun”.
So let’s proceed with the curious case of Henry Metal, who could possibly be a comic persona, or a heavy metal stand up comedian. Try to imagine Jack Black from Tenacious D, worshipping the Gods of Heavy metal in a King Diamond/Gene Simmons suit!
But let’s get to the music of Henry Metal! “So it hath begun” is the debut album and “You ain’t seen nothing yet” is the opening track combining the holy riffs of Judas Priest and Black Sabbath while the solo smells like Bay Area and Anthrax spirit! “Wrist is pissed” is a mid tempo track fast but not furious, till “Butthead Maven” explosion, that brings an Exodus essence in the album, by banging the head that doesn’t bang.
The one that follows under the name of “Henry’s Saga” is probably the most complicated composition of Henry’s metal debut album! However the most beloved ones for me are “God you’re so hot” which is sending a blowing kiss to 80s American hair metal with Malmsteen-ish solo, along with “The Boss of Me” which is a badass song for badass listeners.
On “Terrible Driver” Henry pays tribute to the one and only Glenn Danzig right before he will Squeeze us! So don’t waste your time and raise your fist for Henry Metal! Stand with us!
