Review Summary: this is sparta, baby
Out of all the bands in the world, none has had greater effect on me than sparta. They have like a really raw sound to them, one filled with rage of spirit and mind. When I listen to them, there's really nothing better. It's always been the experience of listening, for me, that's good; some people may not agree though. I'm fine with that though. Not everyone has to agree on everything, just look at the current politics of the modern day. Those are just some thoughts from me though now on to the album. The album is, in a word, very good. I like the way the guitars sound, and I also like the way the drums sound. It reminds me a lot of their earlier stuff, but at the same time you can see that they're doing something else too. I guess there are influences of both, which not a lot of people would think of, but I'm a big fan.
So now on to the album: Mye is a really raw track that gets "Mye" goat. In a good way - some people say getting their goat like its a negative thing, but i just think that sparta IS the goat. Greatest of all time, in words other.
It's time to talk about the dark side, though. Songs like cataract are hard to get through cause they're so darn personal. I mean you just feel this guy as he sings to you. but while he's singing, he's speaking to you too. Like in a deap way.
So in modest conclusion this album means everything to me and also anyone who at the crack of dawn likes to light up a cig and go out on the porch and crack open an ice cold beer and listen to an album while they light up a cig.
