Review Summary: Productive star turned lyrical douchebag. If Illuminate was the teen popstar Shawn Mendes' debut, and maybe was released halfway through last decade, the boy would in many ways and good reasons have been shouted out as the pop-version of a Fred Durst's cousin. Instead of having focus really good quality-wise on the refreshing The Shawn Mendes EP, and the innocent enough Handwritten, he and company surpasses all stupidity scraps the bottom on these tracks. This is definitely the most douchie, outdated, and infuriating lyrics dedicated to the opposite sex, this reviewer has heard in a damn long time.
Absolutely tasteless bubblegum-tracks that gives you the lust of holding your head under flooded faucet on a duraction of the average length of each song on the album isn't enough time for the eardrums repurification. A lot like on the scene for the music video to the lead-single Treat You Better, that starts off overplayed guitar-riff, and vocals as big as humming, and spreads out in shouting about the girl should ride his **** and not the others. The stressful poor break-up songs like Honest and Don't Be A Fool, which is two of the most clichéed 'emotional' tracks dropped this year, stands then out as the two best songs on the record. Shawn ends the disc with the deadly dull Understand, that as much as giving such an arrogant speech, so cringworthy, that it makes Justin Bieber's Purpose-speech to look like a piece on I Have A Dream-level.
There is NO variety, it just stays on the same low tone for 42 minutes, which just gets duller and duller of each coming. There is no vocal worthy highlights, which a few on Handwritten was, so it's used up.
Illuminate is paper-thin torture, description of nausea feeling falsetto, that tries to sound like "raw emotion", but closer to fake and a silver rush in third week, and typical indifferent girl/boyfriend-topics that doesn't get any better on the rest of this forgettable trash-disc. There is much more painful moments on this album, but overall, the most positive has been said. What happened to the delivering and productive Mendes?

Welcome!
A couple of tips.
In many cases, your sentences should be restructured. The first sentence is a good example; it is too wordy and long. You could cut it down significantly, or break it into two sentences.
Your usage at some points is a bit odd. For example, I'm uncertain what you were trying to communicate by using "lust" in the second paragraph.
Your grammar here is poor. I would recommend using either grammarly or having someone proofread your work before you post. Make sure that you identify the common mistakes you make so that you can correct them. Writing is difficult, but very rewarding, so take every chance you can to become a better writer. For me, it helps to read music criticism here and elsewhere. The staff and contributors here are excellent writers. I would recommend Klap and Arcade, as they are great at being concise.

That was me actually lol
| | | Frankly, this is a really, really poorly written review. You mixed up and/or, is/are, etc., and should've run this through spellcheck before submitting it (see: duration, cringeworthy, clichéd, douchey). I'm sure Mendes' album sucks, but I don't really have any idea of why after reading this. If you're going to spend that much time accusing him of being a sleazy misogynist, provide a few examples. You're essentially just saying "this guy's a douche, and his music sucks" (with as many adjectives as you can come up with), and expecting everyone to take your world for it, which doesn't really work (unless, perhaps, you're a reputable reviewer).
I don't know if you're very young, or if English isn't your first language, but this doesn't read like a reasonable review. Some sentences (ex. "A lot like on the scene for the music video to the lead-single Treat You Better, that starts off overplayed guitar-riff, and vocals as big as humming, and spreads out in shouting about the girl should ride his **** and not the others." and "he and company surpasses all stupidity scraps the bottom on these tracks") just don't make any sense whatsoever.
| | | Treat You Better is the ultimate nice guy anthem
| | | You do give some reasons why you do not like it, but you definiteiy have to work on grammar and structure. The review just reads like some thoughts strewn together. Just some advice for next time.
| | | Hello everyone. I'm the one who reviewed the album, but I lost my password to that account. That's why I've made a new one. Thanks for the tips and critic I got. I know, after reading this a couple of times, I should hone it alot, while I was annoyed after that I couldn't edit it. Next time, I'll be alot more detailed, and focus between the lines of an album. Don't hate me, everybody makes mistakes, but now I know. Plus it is short...
