Review Summary: A phenomenal album, untouchable to say the least.
Alright guys this is VOM's 4th full length to date that released back in 2012, not that long ago tbh. This is the last album their old vocalist, Brandon was included in, before he left for God knows why.
OK to start off this album we got "20/200", a great instrumental track that fades into the first actual song, "Divide Paths". When I am listening to this i'm blown away by the amazing guitar sound and drums are very pronounced as well. Misha (Periphery) did a phenomenal job on helping produce this track, I can clearly hear some of his work implemented into the songwriting as well. Now we get into "Punisher" and boy does this song speak for itself I might add. This is the first song I ever heard by them and I got to say, this song is the reason I got hooked on this band. If you know this band by any degree you should know the sample of that " all they have is just bao-nuh nuh-nuh-nuh-nao we-nah-nuh-nah-nuh-nah-no" kid that was placed into the song as well that me and others found humorous and somewhat genius because they took that and turned it into a nice groovy riff to end off the song; a definite staple in Veil's work. Next we got "Winter Is Coming Soon", an obvious GOT reference but who cares, the song is awesome. Drums on this song are awesome especially towards the end; the song also has this pause with synth that gives me ***ing chills I love it. Next song we got is "The Glass Slide" which is pretty good, great riffs and very melodic towards the end. Next song is "Enter My Dreams", a very upbeat and technical song. Right after the intro it goes into this really complicated "djenty breakdown" (sort of speak) that goes into the chorus, I tried playing it on drums and it is so hard to remember. Next song is "Numerical Scheme" which is a fantastic song, I really heard some of misha's work put into this as well, it is just so good. You can actually notice Dan's (new bassist) skill towards the end where he goes tapping along with the guitar which I liked a lot (he is really putting that 7-string bass to use). Okay now we reach a nice Instrumental track called "Eclipse", a very calm, cool and collective movement in a way, very melodic and dominant, This track gave me goosebumps to be honest. Now we reach the last lap (track) of the album "With Passion And Power". A great sound-off on this album and fades off just right.
Overall I got to say this album is fantastic, no hiccups whatsoever in my opinion. The only thing I would have to say is if you like long, exaggerated albums, then this isn't for you; this only clocks in at a mere 28:21. Like I said before this was Brandon's last album, and he will definitely be missed, but he is doing what he wants to do and I respect that, this album was a great way to leave his mark in the history of VOM.
