Release Date: 1986 | Tracklist

Queen were, are and will always be one of the most creative, good and influential music bands of all time. A Kind Of Magic is one of their last album (the last ones are "The Miracle" and "Innuendo", released shortly before Mercury's death) and the last one to be promoted with an European tour, known for his two concert at Wembley in 1986.
A Kind Of Magic is their "last" great album. I gave it "3.5" because, when I analyzed the album, I gave it a vote of 7.7/10...
So, let's start!

*One Vision: 7.4
One Vision is the perfect song for the album's entrance because it creates a strange atmosphere. When you listen to the start of the song, you feel like you're walking in a non-end-desert, without knowing where you're going. Then, the atmosphere changes... you feel this music, this crescendo and you feel that this desert has no-end because Queen's music is immortal: you're walking towards QUEEN. Then the real rock song starts. It isn't perfect everywhere, it isn't Queen's best song ever but it is certainly one of the album's best songs.

*A Kind Of Magic: 8.6
A Kind Of Magic is a small song for Queen but a giant leap for the music. Maybe it is the song that represents most the music of the eighties, on the album. It's a wonderful song that plays with rhythm, with guitar and it remembers me the MTV generation. It is the sequel of the 32-year-old song "Radio Ga Ga", released two years before A Kind Of Magic. Really good.

*One Year Of Love: 8.2
One Year Of Love is not a song on which you can express yourself a lot. I think it's a romantic song, done in truly exceptional way, with Freddie Mercury (as always) shows his best but, to be honest, the melody seems a song that we hear from our entire life because it is a very simple melody. Beautiful.

*Pain Is So Closure To Pleasure: 7.0
I didn't like very much this song, I have nothing to say but I gave it 7.0 only because they are Queen and every artist has a poor song in every album.

*Friends Will Be Friends: 8.0
Friends Will Be Friends is a very good song, I really like Freddie's voice and the rhythm. I'm not surprised to the fact that it was the song that was sung before "We Are The Champions' at Wembley in 1986.

*Who Wants To Live Forever: 9.7
Near perfection, this is a wonderful song, a masterpiece of music and one of Queen's best songs. It is certainly the best song from the album! Good work, Queen (again)!

*Gimme The Prize: 6.8
Gimme The Prize doesn't represent the Queen and it doesn't represent their best songs. To be honest, I would take it off from the album (it and Don't Lose your head) and let only 7 songs. I didn't like it!

*Don't Lose Your Head: 6.6
Don't Lose Your Head is similar to the previous track. I didn't like it at all. Certainly one of Queen's poorest songs!

*Princes Of The Universe: 7.5
If One Vision was perfect to do the start, Princes Of The Universe is perfect to do the last song. Another great song. I like this idea to put the "rockest songs" as the first one and the last one. In fact, the review I made of this song is similar to One Vision. Queen made a kind of magic in every album they made because every album is (quite) perfect and they are really the only princes of the universe!

A nice addition to the 80s Queen discography....

There are a few decent cuts on “A Kind of Magic,” although the ending of the album is disastrous...

Neg. You never explain why every song is good. You just say they are.

I fixed it but yeah, for future reference always double/triple check to make sure the album isn't already in the database before adding a new one.
