Review Summary: Melodic Intersect's music is as imaginative as it is meditative and totally transcending. Their new album, Looking Back, is something that no eclectic music lover should sleep on.

Three times each week I attend Hatha yoga classes. As soon as I heard “Looking Back” by Melodic Intersect I knew I had to share it with my instructor and classmates. Everyone loved it! Their music is as imaginative as it is meditative and totally transcending. Be it the Adho Mukha Svanasana (downward facing dog), the Viparita Virabhadrasana (reverse warrior), or the Parsarita Padottanasana postures the jams on this album are just what the doctor ordered when it comes to the building of our mental and physical strengths.

During our class we’ve been playing the song order the way it was originally sequenced on “Looking Back”, and it works beautifully. Since our classes last an hour it seems like those Melodic Intersect musicians had our workout in mind when recording it (just joking). From the first notes of the “Mirage” (the opening number) through rousing finale of last song titled “Keys to Desire” it’s the perfect accompaniment to uniting body with mind. Relax, stretch, breathe, and connect.

By the time we get midway through this music to the “Midnight Stroll” track I feel like my inner energies have been harnessed and are heading in the intended direction. Every strum of the sitar is like a repeated mantra which opens me as if I were a flower. The pulsating tabla and cajon are like a deep muscle massage. The counterpoint between the violin and the saragi begins as gentle as making love in the morning but ends like a torrid orgy once the sax and keyboards join the ménage. Melodic Intersect puts out some hell’a sexy sounds here.

Whether you're into yoga or not "Looking Back" is something that no eclectic music lover should sleep on. It's a cool combo of styles that Melodic Intersect calls 'world fusion'. It's not such a stretch if you want to check them out yourself on their website: http://melodicintersect.com. Namaste Melodic Intersect, you made my (and my classmates) day, baby!
