Review Summary: The End Of Jawbreaker.

Jawbreaker's Dear You is an album that hardly anyone liked upon release, everyone hated it. The band broke up and that was it, but even though that was the end of the band's career their legacy lived on inspiring many bands and Dear You eventually was seen as the band's best offering.

Dear You is as all Jawbreaker albums are dark, Schwarzenbach sounds as though he's in a great deal of a pain when he belts out these lines pertaining to such topics as: wanting someone to *** , failing relationships, betrayal, and young love. Schwarzenbach's vocal's are top notch.

The instrumentation alone on Dear You is worth a listen, while nothing complex is being done I bob my head along to these amazing moments like in Accident Prone where it's buiding up into the chorus and the drumming gets faster and faster as the guitar follows suit all for it to come crashing together in an explosive chorus. Alot of Dear You is like that. Fun, dark , and explosive. I really feel for Schwarzenbach as he belts out lines like: "All I wants a steady ***" or "I couldn't wait to breathe your breathe cut, cut in line, and bled to death, got to you there was nothing left"

To say Schwarzenbach sounds depressed for the majority of this album would be an understatement. Schwarzenbach's lyrical prouise has always put Jawbreaker far above the punk bands of their era and in Dear You, Schwarzenbach doesn't hold back at all. He tells you his iner most personal thoughts and wants, and in the end. I feel that's what really did Jawbreaker in. Schwarzenbach opened up to his fans and for years was greeted with a collective "Boo!" I find it ironic that now this album as heiled as one of the best emo albums of all time.

Emo......That's definitely what describes this album personal. Very personal. Dear You may not be for everyone, it's lyrics can be seen as juvenile or pretensious to some and his vocal style has changed since 24 Hour Revenge therapy due to his vocal surgery. Their was a lot of heart and soul that the band put into this album it's just sad knowing for some people that wasn't enough.

Not a bad effort, I can clearly see what you are trying to do. However there are lots of grammar errors here, really simple stuff like missing full stops and using excessively long sentences. Don't know if you proof read or got someone else to, but I would recommend it on your next review.

Thanks dude

he was joking

but maaaaan dw, writing flawed reviews is how you get better, and while it makes you fair game for some joshing, it's all in fun and is not to be taken seriously. this site is a joke, after all. anyway, not a bad review, but if you wanna improve ya gotta fix up yr grammar and read some more (reviews or otherwise) so that you learn how to get yr ideas across effectively.

that upsets me a little bit cause I myself thought I did a good job explaining why I love this album so much.

ya didnt do a bad job considering how short this review is but the many spelling and grammar mistakes can get really distracting. but in terms of the actual ideas you put forward it feels like you underexplained the instrumentation, spent too long defending the album from criticisms, and didnt really elaborate on what makes this a 5/5 album; ya just said a bunch of things that you liked about it that could really amount to a score of anything between 3/5 to 5/5. to reiterate my tips for improvement: fix up yr spelling and grammar, and read more.
I feel that's what really did Jawbreaker in. Schwarzenbach opened up to his fans and for years was greeted with a collective "Boo!"

people didnt like this record back then becuz it sounded way too poppy and polished, not because of blake's sincerity. he's always been pretty open in his lyrics, and that was part of what made jawbreaker so popular in the first place.

Completely agree with dimsim's comments; it's all about practice. Also, possibly take more time with your reviews. You are clearly enthusiastic and keen to get your opinions out there, but pumping out a review or two everyday can lead to sloppy and sub-par reviews. I've been on the site for almost a year and I've only put out 3 reviews, partially because I'm lazy, but mainly because I take ages per review, changing it up constantly to try get my message across in the best way I can.

Seriously keep at it, Sputnik can be a bit brutal with newer reviewers but you are improving, especially since your disturbed review.
