Review Summary: It's brutal.
This is how music should sound, absolutely brutal, but with an element of experimentation to its sound. And it was done by Asking Alexandria, a band best known as a death core band that often does something new and different with a usually stale and boring genre. This is a great album from front to back.
The Irony Of Your Perfection is their debut album and really does benefit from this as it is completely different from any other albums of any genre. To call this a classic of the genre would be a complete understatement, as it in reality is something completely different to anything else that has ever been created. This has brutal riffs throughout, being one of the heaviest releases ever put out there for sure. I can not think of a single album with heavier riffs or drumming to date.
The lyrics to this album really speak to people going through a rough time, and i like this, as it pushes them beyond the usual heart breaks and gore of the genre that plagues music of today. Also, the band stays away from the number one cliche in music today-auto tune. There is no auto tune to be found plaguing this particular masterpiece, no, Asking Alexandria are a lot more sensible than that.
The vocals are the real highlight. They are beautiful, jumping from some of the lowest growls of all time to some of the highest screams of all time, and then some beautifully melodic clean vocals that really suit this brand of crazy heavy music that the band has been putting out.
The use of synthesizers is not completely over the top on this album unlike that which would come later. It is used where necessary, and adds a lot of dimensions to this one dimensional shape that i never thought was possible until i heard this release. Its the best album of one of my favorite bands.
