Review Summary: All in all, this a GREAT album. Every album since "Count Your Blessings" has shown signs of a whole new sound and Sempiternal is the final product of what Bring Me The Horizon has been trying to do every since they started. I highly recommend giving it a

Not a lot of people can say they knew what was coming with Bring Me The Horizon's latest release "Sempiternal". With the band switching to a major label, many people thought their next album would be softer or more 'mainstream'...what ever that means. But BMTH shocked everyone with neither a heavier album or a softer album. It's almost hard to say wether this album is dark, happy, heavy, it's got a bit of everything. Here's my reviews and ratings of each song with a line from each song.

1. Can You Feel My Heart. 8/10. Really shocking upon first listen. Certainly not what you would except from BMTH. Fairly simple song in the sense of how it's structured. This is the first time Oli sings and it's surprisingly not bad. Catchy song. Good album opener. ("I'm scared to get close, I hate being alone")

2. The House Of Wolves. 8/10. Solid song. The song meaning has a religious undertone. Catchy Chorus. Probably one of the best Bring Me The Horizon breakdowns you'll ever hear. ("Brick by brick by brick. Your walls begin to cave in.")

3. Empire (Let Them Sing). 7/10 Not good enough for an 8. Not bad enough for a 6. Pretty average song compared to the rest of the album. It has it's moments, but it's a bit forgettable. ("The wolves are at my door")

4. Sleepwalking. 8/10. Very catchy song. Much more electronic leads than they've had in the past. More singing than screaming. Although Oli's singing is more like a yelling singing type of thing. If Justin Timberlake was a metal artist, this would be his hit song. Most marketable song on the album. ("Your eyes are swallowing me. Mirrors start to whisper, shadows start to sing.")

5. Go To Hell, For Heavens Sake. 9/10. Classic hate song. Great hook line. Might get boring if on repeat, but it's a great song upon first listen. ("You're not a shepherd, You're just a sheep.")

6. Shadow Moses. 10/10. Best song on the album. The chorus will be stuck in your head for days. Nothing technical, just a very strongly put together song. Very Relentless. ("This Is Sempiternal.")

7. And the Snakes Start To Sing. 8/10. If you go straight from BMTH's "Count Your Blessings" album to this, you will not think it's the same band. Slowest song on the album. Chorus is average. The Verses and Instrumental sections save this song. ("If you can't soar with the eagles, than don't fly with the flock.")

8. Seen It All Before. 5/10. The song meaning sticks true to the album, but musically it just feels out of place. Very boring. Transition from the 2nd verse in to the chorus feels like they don't even know what was next in the song. Forgettable. ("Every second soaked in sadness, every weekend there's a war.")

9. Antivist. 9/10. The "Diamonds Aren't Forever" of this album. Extremely catchy. Definitely an anthem. It may take a couple listens, but it'll grow on you. ("United we'll fail. Divided we'll fall.")

10. Crooked Young. 8/10. Definitely a hate song. Religious undertone. Very heavy song. Very catchy. Sticks true to the rest of the album. ("No death can touch the crooked young.")

11. Hospital For Souls. 10/10. Brilliant album closer. Brilliant song. Sums up the album musically and lyrically. Very artistic. ("Hold me close, don't let go. Watch me burn.")

Key notes, track by track reviews are not the best way to go about a review. Other then that, you didn't really explain much about each song or why each one was brilliant or good with much color. I didn't neg since this was your first review, but you may want to learn a few better ways of reviewing before attempting.

I even think it's awful. I actually tried to give it a neg haha. I was indecisive wether i explained about the sound of the
album and the songs enough and if the whole song by song thing was a good idea. Thank you hogan900 for
CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. The two other guys on here...you can't just say you don't like it. Tell my why. Give me reasons
so I can write better reviews. You gotta help each other out.

"you can't just say you don't like it"

Track by track reviews are extremely frowned upon and you didn't describe what this record sounds like at all or why it's a 4.5

Thank you, that's what i'm saying. You didn't just hate on it. You told me what was specifically wrong with it. I'll try to stay
away from track by track reviews.

I covered something like that on the top, lol but if you want to look at what a good review is, read something from a staff member, contributor, or emeritus. They put out good stuff constantly and you can get some good tips by reading them.

Yeah, if users could stop writing reviews for Sempiternal...
That would be great.

Well, um, yeah. That's pretty much what a 7/10 is.
