Review Summary: BTBAM push their own limits to create something memorable and enjoyable BTBAM has a long history of being the band everyone loves to hate, often citing Tommy Rogers "im choking on a bread roll" screams or guitarists Paul Waggoner and Dustie Waring's solos as "mindless wankery" as evidence. While Parallax II: Future Sequence most likely will not be able to change any of those preceding notions from those firmly set in their anti-BTBAM position, it will definitely manage to leave a lasting impression on those who give it a chance.
Parallax II starts off much like Colors and TGM did with the gentle intro "Goodbye to Everything", appropriately titled for its ability to drift off almost other worldly and transport the listener into the album's atmosphere. The flow on this album is incredible; each song bleeds into the other and connects ideas and melodies to make songs that were already strong even stronger. "Astral Body" continues the album and proves that BTBAM can create concise (albeit concise for them is 5 minutes) songs that leave as much of a lasting impression as their longer songs do.
The real highlight of this album is its ability to dish out superb song after superb song, a feat that wasn't present on Colors or TGM which both rather fused amazing songs (Sun of Nothing, White Walls, Disease, Injury, Madness, Fossil Genera) with not necessarily bad tracks but weaker ones (Prequel to the Sequel, Obfuscation). "Lay Your Ghosts to Rest", "Telos", "Melting City", and "Silent Flight Parliament" are among the best tracks the bands ever recorded. In the end, what makes Parallax II a great and memorable listen is its ability to create melodies and lyrics that will be stuck in your head for weeks, like when Tommy bellows "WEEEEAK SOULS, WEEEAK MINDS, WEEEAK SOULS, WEEAK LIVES" in the previously mentioned "Lay Your Ghosts to Rest" or the haunting piano driven ballad-esque "The Black Box" that comes before the booming and spacey "Telos".
Indeed this album isn't for those with "weak souls or weak minds" because this album, and band for that matter, requires the listener's full attention and willingness to sample and hear new things (the metal tinged surf rock of "Bloom" or even the sitar influenced playing in "Extremophile Elite" circa the 8:00 minute mark) that make the band fit the true definition of "progressive" music. If you already are convinced you don't like BTBAM and don't want anything to do with them or their music then this album isn't for you. But, if you are willing to put aside your complaints and give the record a spin with your full attention, it is an experience that rewards the listener with music that is complex, challenging, and creative

pretty good first review i'd say. you could talk more about the details of the album and not like ""Lay Your Ghosts to Rest", "Telos", "Melting City", and "Silent Flight Parliament" are among the best tracks the bands ever recorded". you should tell why they are among their best tracks.
anyway it seems that you really put effort on this. oh and because the reviews are often read by people who are not familiar with the band, please don't use abbreviations in the album names, TGM = The Great Misdirect
| | | Alright an actually thinking comment this time
"WEEEEAK SOULS, WEEEAK MINDS, WEEEAK SOULS, WEEAK LIVES"
Don't do this unless it's a joke review and even then that's hard to pull off. It makes the review
seem extremely unprofessional and too "uncaring" for its own good.
Minimize jokes like this as well
Tommy Rogers "im choking on a bread roll" screams
And it's "I'm"
The real highlight of this album is its ability to dish out superb song after superb song, a
feat that wasn't present on Colors or TGM which both rather fused amazing songs (Sun of Nothing,
White Walls, Disease, Injury, Madness, Fossil Genera) with not necessarily bad tracks but weaker
ones (Prequel to the Sequel, Obfuscation).
you're gonna have to explain that, the only thing you said was that it had good melodies and lyrics
(which are mediocre when you get down to it) and the furthest you went with explaining the music was
with one song ("the haunting piano driven ballad-esque "The Black Box"")
If you already are convinced you don't like BTBAM and don't want anything to do with them or
their music then this album isn't for you.
This doesn't flow too well, and I believe you should've put a comma at "their music", at the latest.
A better sentence would be:
If you already set your mind about this band and you don't like them, this is not for
you/This won't change your mind
Finally you should've mentioned flaws, no matter what score you're giving the best thing to do is at
least give one reason why you're not giving it a perfect score, because otherwise it can be assumed
that the reviewer is saying that it has no flaws and should therefore be rated accordingly.
...
Boredom i guess idk
