Review Summary: A surprisingly good album by BOTDF

Blood On The Dance Floor. Five words that are almost guaranteed to spark a reaction from the majority of music lovers out there. The band are hated to an impossible degree, their music is considered trash and their lyrical content is often maligned for being overly sexual and unnecessary. So if this band is the so called worst band ever then how did they manage to pull themselves together to put out an album as solid as Its Hard To Be A Diamond In A Rhine Stone World? This release is an eleven-track, thirty five minute long affair of electronic beats, a mixture of spoken rap, screaming and clean singing, and the band's signature sex-focused lyrics. And it's really nowhere near as bad as many people would have you believe.

Following a (admittedly) rather dull introductory track we hear the first proper song, entitled Save The Rave. This song is noteworthy for having one of the best choruses on the album, with some great singing off of Dahvie Vanity and is one of the songs that uses screaming the least (tracks such as S My D and Mosh And Roll use it a lot whereas this barely has any). This is also one of the best songs here. The lyrics are not quite as sexually motivated as many of the other tracks are, the vocals are good and the beat is enjoyable. It is on the next song, S My D, that the band's real attraction seeps through however. This band are really bouncy, positive and fun to listen to and actually do not take themselves seriously whatsoever, unlike most bands out there. The band are happy to make music with mindless lyrics to appeal to people who are just looking for music to have a laugh to at a party and jump around like a mad man to.

S My D has a great screamy section and the bridge is very good ("SO OPEN ME UP LIKE CHRISTMASSSS" stands out as one of the best moments on the album). Other highlights would be the title track and Mosh And Roll. The former of the two has a great choruses that continues the positive nature of this album and is also very fun and enjoyable throughout, wheras the second is a harder hitting song. Mosh And Roll has a dark and heavy vibe to it, with a rumbling bass line and heavy feel, with a screamy chorus and a lot of aggression all the way through in the music, despite the same old lyrical content for BOTDF being present here. It is songs like this that show how good this band really can be even despite what people say about them and this album is a great one that everyone should check out.

A listenable enough album that is not as bad as claimed but its certainly nothing special. I don't see where the hate for this band comes from, sure its not good or even average but they don't deserve the hate people give them.

"The band are"

It bothers the shit out of me when people use the plural with "band." I understand that technically it isn't incorrect as long as the usage is consistent but it just sounds so fucking awkward.

also, lol.

A note to people that use intros like this:

Don't. It's one of the worst kinds of intros.
