Release Date: 2011 | Tracklist

Review Summary: a very nice album, it has some ups and downs, but it has more ups for a metal head... it is also (IN MY OPINION) the best chimaira album to date.

well... well... well... this is a very strong release for chimaira, the funny thing is, they lost half of the band, but produced the best piece of work to date. - (IN MY OPINION)

now on with the review... this album opens with (the age of hell), this track is not a strong one to be honest, for a song that is supposed to set the whole albums feel, this track is a little weak - let me explane... to me this track is more of a filler track than a album starter, while it is a good song, it is not nearly as good as what the rest of the album has to offer.
however as track two (clockwork) opens, the album begins to start using more effects and take more of a shape... this song has an experimental feel to it almost, now im sure most of you are going to bitch and moan at what im about to say next but *** it... some of the moments on this album have a progressive feel to it with parts in the song (scapegoat) with the acoustic outro... now i know its not progressive like (tool) or (opeth) but it has that little hint, and that gives this album a nice flow.

(losing my mind) is the next track on the album, and more of a stand out one to, the double foot opening is just sounds evil, i love how the drummer (ben schigel) uses some of the most evil but beautiful drum work on this album, he has a huge talent on the drums, he reminds me of (chris adler) from (lamb of god) on some tracks...

also this album features some of (mark hunters) best growling / screaming on this album, and that really adds to the whole feel of the album...

i also noticed that (mark hunter) in (beyond the grave) has used the whole song in clean vocals, chimaira have not done this before, so that makes this a stand out track in itself.

one of the best thing about this album (IN MY OPINION) is the guitar work aswell... this is the most groove metal album by the band to date, and this is no bad thing, the guitar riffs are hard and heavy, and the drumming has the best symbol tapping i have heard to date, check out the drum fill with the lead guitar solo in (trigger finger), it will blow you away...

if you have read this far, then i really do recommend this album to a lamb of god fan...

goods...

- the best album by then to date - (IN MY OPINION)
- the best drum work of their entire discography
- mark hunter sounds like a beast

bads...

- i think they had the right ideas, but if they had pushed it a but further, it could have been a master piece
- some tracks are a bit weak

the end... oh and by the way im not a pro at reviewing albums, criticize by all means, but is your going to write pointless ***, do me a favor and *** off - thank you.

You clearly don't want to improve, even with help and the fact you didn't even attempt to capitalize.... well I rarely neg, but you earned it ; ]

lol

but apparently capitalizing the first letter of a sentence, song titles, and names was just too difficult.

Very good album. Chimaira haven't lost it, that's for sure. Interesting to hear what they come up with next, with the new line up.

One thing. Beyond the Grave isn't all cleans. Every clean line is layered with screams, yo. There are even a few segments that are only screamed.

EDIT: Goddammit. Computer fuck-up = accidental doublepost.
