5 of 5 thought this review was well written

This EP shows exactly what most metalcore bands that play the At The Gates kind of metalcore are doing wrong. Creative melodic death metal riffs, good breakdown placement as well as not over using breakdowns, and over using clean vocals. As well as good production, and not overproduced. The bass can actually be heard in the mix.

Prayer for Cleansing has their own twist on the melodic death metal style of metalcore. Which can be found on "Salvation" opening with the bass guitar playing a very punk rock sounding riff then the guitars come in playing a riff that mixes punk and melodic death metal and is catchy as hell, and this riff is used for the chorus but with clean vocals and screaming over one another makes it perfect, and the song ends with a solo that sounds like it would be from a rock and roll band. Other than that song most of the riffs threw out the EP are pretty normal for this type of metalcore. But at least they do it correctly and don't play watered down bland riffs. Plenty of really good harmonies giving even more life to most of the riffs, and the vocals are done great. David has a very raspy high and low voice thats perfect for this style of music.

This EP may seem pretty generic to today standards but this is one of the reasons metalcore is how it is today, whether that is good or bad. This was an influential band for metalcore.

David Anthem - Vocals
Paul Waggoner - Guitar
Tommy Rogers - Guitar
Marc Duncan - Bassist
Will Goodyear - Drummer

Good review flutter, I got this album a couple months ago and totally forgot about it until now because it's so short, it sounds pretty awesome. I totally forgot Tommy played guitar in this band.

Yo @Flutter, you should check out From Here On, it's Tommy's band from like 1999 but their album Hope For a Bleeding Sky is really awesome.
