Merciless – Merciless

Band Information
This band comes from Sweden and they play death-metal, but I think they don’t play the well-known Swedish ¨Gothenburg¨ death-metal. This band has a more aggressive and extreme feel to their material. I haven’t listen to death-metal for a long time but I would say that this band plays old school death-metal because of the violent lyrics, ferocious vocals and ¨Slayer¨-drumming. But I really don’t know because I haven’t found that much information of this band.

The Band Members
Roger Pettersson – vocals
Erik Wallin – guitars
Fredrik Karlén – bass
Peter Stjärnvind – drums

The Music
This band seems to have no special music abilities, the instruments and their style sounds very simple if you compare them to other famous death-metal bands such as In Flames or Cannibal Corpse. The songs have almost no melodic moments or should I say none, the songs sounds almost exactly as the other which becomes boring the more you listen to the album. The only songs that may be more rhythmic compared to the other could be ¨Violent Obsession¨ and ¨In Your Blood¨.

The Instrumental Section
The guitar has barely any bass-frequency but the riffs are sometimes quite catchy, the solos is good also but they are not heard to often and there is no solo that is worth to give high points.

The bass is poor in this album except in the last track. It plays in the same tracks as the guitar but it barely heard because of the distorted guitars and never-ending drumming.

The drummer is like any other death-metal drummer, this guy is good with the double bass drums but the drumming is always pounding and barely has any melodic rhythms which are heard in every sing.

The vocals is raw and brutal screams and it sounds like this singer is very serious in his singing, the lyrics is about violence, hate, anger, gore and so on, which is typical to death-metal lyrics.

Pros
-Well I can't find any PROS about this album

Cons
-The songs sound almost identical to each other
-Poor bass
-Same drumming in all songs
-Almost no variation of the songs

Final Rating
This is one of the worst death-metal bands I ever heard, this album is very boring because of the poor variation in the songs. The songs have basically the same structure, same pace and vocals. It would have been better if there could some slow and fast songs but here are only same sounding songs. There are few catchy riffs and the drumming just gets annoying to the listener; I think that this band would even bore a death-metal fan. The only songs that I could recommend from this album are ¨Violent Obsession¨ and ¨In Your Blood¨ but I will not recommend this album to anyone. I’m sorry but this is a bad album and I will give it following rating: 1/5

If there aren't any pros to the album, shouldn't it be a 1/5?

Because you can't get cheap CD's in Sweden. And I thought that the CD could be good after listen to Hypocrisy, but I was a dumb@ss who bought it anyway. If you ever visit Sweden don't buy CD's, download the music instead. This Message Edited On 12.09.05

No way, Hypocrisy is way more better than this band, but that is just my opinion.

Ha I was reading these posts and none of it made sense, now I get that you are talking about Kronars, yeah, you just forgot the decimal points! €2000 is A LOT of money, you can buy cars for that much! These people must have thought you were crazy or something.
