Review Summary: The voices in Klayton's head need some recommendations for new music pronto.

1 of 1 thought this review was well written

Well Klayton sure has his hands full. Between trying to release the last couple chapters of Wish Upon A Blackstar, he’s been finishing other unreleased EP’s and volumes in his never ending saga. Soundtrack For The Voices In My Head Vol. 2 is the second installment in this series and it doesn’t flourish as well as any of his other material, at all. This four track EP is supported on the first “half” by three tracks that see Klayton take his direction from heavy industrial rock to recycling riffs that sound like b-sides off a Chevelle or Breaking Benjamin album. The latter “half” of the EP is a twenty minute ambient monster that while not being the most creative piece he’s ever written is still much more refreshing than listening to his feeble attempt to create instrumental songs for video games soundtracks.

“The Sentinel” appears at a glance to be the most industrial sounding track on this short EP. Using distortive beats and ditching most of the riffs from the previous two songs, it’s the short album’s only song with multiple replay value. The ambient piece to this album, “Adrift on Celestial Seas” is twenty minutes of calming soundscapes and spacey interludes. While it could have been shorter and the sound doesn’t vary much it would be the perfect song to help fill the background music for a game such as Mass Effect. With so many minor releases under his belt the question to ask is, why isn’t he focusing on releasing something of quality like Celldweller again? The question will probably go unanswered for us but maybe this is what the voices in his head are telling him to create.

If you care Magnus he remixed Own Little World for his new Cellout EP and it's all dubsteppy.

Ehh, I'm not really into dubstep.

His self titled LP still remains as the only enjoyable thing he's done.

If you mean under the Celldweller moniker, then yes, if you mean in general, then no.

To be honest, I think the second paragraph is kind of jumpy and not really cohesive. It reads like you wanted to say an awful lot as quickly and in as few words as possible, but didn't quite pull it off. Also, in my opinion, the transition between the two paragraphs could be smoother.

Fair enough. I thought it was one of my better short reviews but oh well. Honestly I didn't know how to transition between the two paragraphs, but I'll admit it isn't the smoothest.

On a positive note, since the review is so short anyway (not that the length is a problem at all), you should be able to beef up your second paragraph quite quickly/easily. Btw, congrats on your current Ohgr feature!

And now I'm going to bed : )

This is the guy that used to do Circle of Dust and Argyle Park? I didn't really like the one Celldweller album that I heard, but I don't remember why.

That's the only song I've heard from Celldweller, but it's been a favorite of mine for years.

I should probably listen to the rest of that album...

Apparently this shouldn't have been reviewed, Blindsided. :/ Wikipedia says, "The album will be released just as Wish Upon a Blackstar, in around 5 or 6 chapters, with 4 or 5 songs in each chapter. " You only reviewed one chapter of the album bro.

Then he shouldn't have even released it to begin with.
