Release Date: 2008 | Tracklist

Review Summary: Exit Ten may not be the heaviest metal element, but there is no question of the quality level of music they produce.

Most 'metallers' would find Exit Ten a strange element, the music behind the vocals can be considered typical of the metalcore genre while the vocal efforts themselves are that melodic that it could be considered scary. The vocals whilst unusual for the genre seem to suit the 'Exit Ten' line-up perfectly.

Exit Ten whilst not wide-spreadly known operate using musical techniques such as polyrhythms and unusual time signatures, multiple melody lines and tasteful double bass drum beats. They display techniques and song writing skills past their time, things that most would expect bands would learn further down the path of their careers.

'Remember The Day' is a landmark album for Exit Ten. Its an album where the world gets to see Exit Ten's remarkable talent, and the world should start to notice, with tracks including the album title track 'Remember The Day' which is an excellent example of dynamic changes and how Exit Ten work so well mixing their heavy sounding music and smooth, melodic vocals. 'Remember The Day' uses dissonant chord patterns, chugging riffs, double-bass, and extensive drum fills. This track has a high playability level and would be a main listen on the album overall. The track itself shows diversity to keep listeners attention using quiet build up sections drawing the listener in before leading back into the main of the song. This song is an excellent example of being both heavy and melodic.

Another standout of the album includes the seni fast paced track 'Godspeed' it includes the before mentioned polyrhythms as well as excellent melody lines, and creative lyrical themes. While there are other tracks that display the mix between metal and this unusually heard vocal style in modern day metal and uses time signatures other than the standard 4/4.

Exit Ten will improve as they develop over the course of there career, and the members of this progressive metal-core group show much song writing skill. The vocals may take a little time for listeners to wrap there heads around but they remain of a high consistant quality and gives an interesting and possibility unique sound of the band.

Good album. Good band. Better than pretty much every other metalcore band out there.

"Exit Ten whilst not wide-spreadly known operate using musical techniques such as polyrhythms and unusual time signatures, multiple melody lines and tasteful double bass drum beats."

That sentence seems generally awkward...I would put a comma after Ten and then another one after known and I might change the wording of "not wide-spreadly known", doesn't really work when you're reading it.

like very smooth melodic punk, but with a lot more thought and talent.

The vocals with themselves or with the band are excellent.

I remember when Metal Hammer used to rave how these guys would blow up and be huge. I always thought they sucked so I'm glad they didn't. Ugh, Metal Hammer...
