OK, so Audioslave is the first American band to ever play Cuba. On May 6, 2005, 60,000 people attending the free Audioslave concert in Havana, Cuba in the Anti-Imperialist Plaza. This is supposedly a very historic event, but to be quite honest, there isn't anything special about the actual performance.
What I liked about the DVD
The main thing I liked about this DVD is the set list. I believe that they didn't include the entire concert on here, but most of it. I love how they played some RATM and Soundgarden, along with plenty of Audioslave. Some highlights would include Spoonman, Bulls on Parde, Black Hole Sun, and I am the Highway.
Another thing I really liked about this was Tom Morello's guitar playing. Some of these solos are amazing. Examples: Bulls On Parade, I am the Highway, and Spoonman. Brad Wilk's drumming is wonderful, and Tim's bass playing is incredible, as always.
I also like Tim's backup vocals. In Spoonman, his vocals aren't very good, but in the other songs he sings in(Like a Stone, your time has come) they are a very nice addition.
What I didn't like about the DVd
OK, although there are a lot of good things, there are probably more bad.
-Chris's singing just plain sucks. I keep thinking it was going to get better and better, but it never did. He is so tense, and even the way he looks when he's singing shows the he is uncomfortable. Although, on Spoonman, he seems to loosen up a bit (just a BIT) and sing a LITTLE better. I honestly hope he never tries to sing a RATM song again. Sleep now in the Fire made me laugh at loud.
If you are buying this DVD for Chris's singing, don't. It's almost painful to watch.
-The way it is put together is just hilarious. In some songs, the video and the audio don't even match up. They will be offset by a couple seconds, especially when the camera is on Brad. The overall performance(Minus Chris) is pretty good, but watching it is hard because you see and hear the band at different times.
Summary
Pros
-The music, except the vocals
-Nice set list
-It was free!
-TV documentary is nice
-Bonus CD is nice (minus "Sleep now in the Fire")
Cons
-Sleep now in the Fire
-Chris's singing
-Poorly put together
Overall, I wouldn't buy this. Chris's poor performance just ruins it completely. Unless you are willing to ignore the frontman, don't waste your money.
