Review Summary: Southern comfort.

1 of 1 thought this review was well written

It's pleasant to know in each individual community underneath the city lights and social lives there are diamonds in the rough that remain hidden in plain view. A special feeling brews inside when one gets to be apart of them. It almost feels like they've discovered a new family of sorts. This goes without saying for collective indie rockers Israel Darling, a band of the people formed in the artistic concrete jungle of Greensboro, North Carolina and spread everywhere in between the states lines. Through successful do it yourself tours they landed a spot on small indie label Engine Room Records that later lead to this blue print of trials and tribulations.

Led by sole creator Jacob Darden, the album features a cast of close personal friends each equipped with keen chops meant to rattle your bones with a sense of tranquil beauty. Israel darling is made up of interchangeable members each skilled in various instruments that they utilize to the fullest. Dinosaur Bones and Mechanical Hands dives deep into story form as each track breaks creative boundaries. The delivery style is infectiously haunting dabbling in tales of drug abuse, long lost loves, broken homes, and battles each honest man must overcome in life.

The song writing alone is captivating and uniquely powerful as it puts the listener in a mesmerized state with soothing tunes laced with southern twang. Darden and the gang croon with such emotion that one can't help but get sucked in. The most thought provoking subject matter is displayed through the rest of the disc. The poetic atmosphere is held up by a sturdy backbone of impressive production that highlights each mood in all the correct spots which goes to show a personal record done with conviction brings an extremely important desired effect. In closing, Dinosaur Bones and Mechanical Hands aims to establish the band as a serious group of prodigy musicians on a mission and accomplishes that goal in vast amounts.

Nice try. Is English your first language? It reads very awkward in places. I might give this a chance.

I had to add them to the database. they are pretty underground but extremely respected. I tend to review bands that
deserve exposure. i'm personal friends with the frontman so I figured i'd do him a solid since I do love this so much.

If I ever get back to reviewing, I'll keep up that trend (reviewing lesser known bands). In any event, we'll just have to beat Sputnik over the head with this till they get it.

It's the only way.

They'll catch on, eventually. Until then, we can bump this periodically.

Anything for good music! =]

I'm hopelessly broke, so it'll be a while before I can get my hands on this album. I will be, however, listening to their live album later today.

I got a whole list of basically unknown bands for ya ANdCaS. I mean since you like reviewing bands who don't get the exposure they deserve ;)

Hi I work at Engine Room. Thanks for the great review of Dinosaur Bones & Mechanical Hands! Love to read these as this is one of my favorite records we've released and the best random myspace finds have ever had.

Also the live album is not on iTunes but can be found for free here -
