Review Summary: A fun and exhilarating, sadly short, ride

0 of 1 thought this review was well written

The Mad Gear and Missile Kid is a three track EP released by My Chem that was included in the deluxe edition of their album. The guitar player Frank described it as "It's basically what the Killjoy characters would be listening to as they are driving around in the cars and having shoot outs in the music videos". First off, this EP is really good, I mean really good. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 was because it is so short. The EP finished up just under 6 minutes for the three songs.

The first track "F.T.W.W.W (*** The Whole Wide World) had me excited right after hearing the guitar opening. The songs preceding it follow generally the same musical style. The songs sound very raw and, if this makes sense, rather sleazy. Lyrically the EP is not very deep and rather straight forward. The lyrics are also pretty funny with an example being "Come on, Come on, Kiss my battery". Overall everything from the guitars and lyrics sound very raw and just awesome. It's kind of like a mix between early punk music and just a tad bit of Revenge. The songs are very fun to jam out to, but once again, very short.

Try to find this online or something, I think Youtube has the songs, but this is very good. I am hoping they do a full length with this music style. It's just a fun EP with interesting songs and it's a very nice change of pace.

Okay for a second review, but this really needs a bit more work and some touch-up. The review (and indeed the EP) has some potential, but it needs to be tightened and made more descriptive for it to work.

But I'll pos.

Interesting, it's better than the full length I'd say but need to listen a bit more to decide.

My Chemical Romance appear to be getting way too deep into their conceptual storylines, since 'The Mad Gear and Missile Kid' are apparently the band which their alter egos The Fabulous Killjoys listen to! Released as a companion to 'Danger Days...', this 3 track EP differentiates itself from the band's 4th LP by carrying a rambunctiously punkier style which isn't at all mainstream. Unfortunately, at 6 minutes in total length, it's difficult to forgive any filler, meaning this EP will be best remembered for being the only MCR release featuring short-lived drummer Michael Pedicone (who was later fired for stealing). Recommended Tracks: Mastas of Ravenkroft & F.T.W.W.W.
