Review Summary: ADTR kept their intregrity? Well... sort of.

So here it is finally, after months of waiting (for me at least) and numerous online videos of the band recording the album, here is the 4th installment from one of my favourite bands A Day To Remember.
Now their first album (For Their Name Was Treason) was brilliant, an angry screaming but also very catchy and easy to listen to album, they continued the trend of what can only be described as awesomeness with their next two efforts (For Those Who Heart & Homesick) can they continue with the new highly anticipated album?

They start off very well with 'Sticks & Bricks' which features familer ground of screaming mixed with an amazingly catchy chorus. the anger is apparant in Jemery's voice and really gets you right into what the song is feeling, an amazing start to the album it has to be said.

'All I Want' is next and is the opening single off the album and a very strong one to choose as well. The song starts happily enough with a punk-ish riff and very strong hearing drum beats before Jeremy unleashes a punk vocal to the world and opens his emotions to the world. The chorus is unbelieveable, everyone will be singing along to it soon enough, this track is very strong and certainly gets the listener on side, the lyrics are easy to enough to understand and very true. Again unbelieveable track.

A head beating start with the next track 'It's Complicated' the guitar and drums, the vocals are strong but level off when we reach the first chorus, this is the most emtional track as of yet with the lyrics ‘You’re not the person i knew back then’ for the first time in the album is the return of the hoolaganish shouts from the rest of the band which fits perfectly with the anger being shown. This album has been perfect so far.

Next up the comedown from the amazing start 'This Is The House That Doubt Built' which features the slowest start to a track on this album next, but then comes the drop and again Jeremy unleashing his feelings to the world and boy does he do this. The chorus is easy to bop along to, but ADTR do something they havent done before, the woah’s are out of place for ADTR and it feels a little like a Paramore song. Hayley Williams could be singing this track with BOB by her side, the most poppy track ADTR have ever done and will definetly get them on side with the mainstream media, but for me that isn’t a good thing.

And boom! '2nd Sucks' kicks us back into life and shake the foundations with this brutal almost totally metalcore track, the breakdown at the beginning is one of my favourites of all ADTR breakdowns, this baby will be a huge hit with the moshers at live shows. The end is unbeliveable and really sends shivers down your spines when Jemery screams ‘So i expect nothing less from youuuu’ that ending bit will remian with you for a while as it did with me. ADTR get my back on side with this cluster*** of awesomeness.

'Better Off This Way' has a strong start and again another emotional display from Jeremy. The lyrics are hard hitting and feel true to any failed relationship in your life. It does feel similar to It’s Complicated but it feels fresh and doesnt need much screaming at all. The woah’s are back but they feel needed to transfer back to the verses, not at all like 'The House That Doubt Built' This is my personnel favourite from ADTR’s new album and certainly feels related to the album title and the whole feel they have tried to portray.

Straight back into the next track 'All Signs Point To Lauderdale' is basically 'Homesick' part 2 which isn't a bad thing as the guitar riffs are back as are the strong drum beats and the fragility of Jemery's voice which shows that the track has to be close to his heart. His voice is still amazing though don't get me wrong.

The screaming beginnings return for 'You Be Tails, I'll Be Sonic' which i'd like to add is the best title for a track i think i've ever heard, the lyrics are strong and very hard hitting and once again emotional and really connects to your feelings. The screaming is very loud in this track as it is another moshers dream.

You've gotta believe that the next track 'Out Of Time' will be the next single off this album if they want to get on the radio, its easy to listen to and hear the lyrics as its another lyricly headed beginning before the drop comes and the chorus which is very annoyingly catchy, brilliant once again.

We get to the end of the album now with the brilliant ender 'If I Leave' once again a scream introduces us into a frenzy of fun not for the first time in this album. The lyrics are about staying true to yourself which they have done except for that one track which certainly destroys this from being perfect.

Now i'm not giving it the full 5 because of two reasons: the one track i despise 'The House That Doubt Built' which as i've said is Paramore all over which is a shame and the second reason, the tracks are a little bit samey. as i went through i could've sworn that my pc had skipped back a few tracks as a few songs sound exactly the same until you reach the chorus.

Better off this way and the Lauderdale song are my faves though I find the loose fbombs in Lauderdale really lame.

I hate this town, it's so washed up
And all my friends don't give a fuck
they'll tell me that it's just bad luck
when will I find where I fit in

isn't this guy in his mid-20's?

Yeah, but when you're in your mid-20's, whining about not moving out of your hometown is perfectly justifiable.

lmao meatcurtains

also, i was being serious before -- the lyrics perfectly fit the music and still could easily be cheesier. Also there are some pretty cool one-liners during the albums heavier parts

The lyrics are fluff, but there's a time for fluff. I'm all for challenging, thought-provoking lyrics but sometimes I just want hooks.
