so, here i am... bored at 1am, watching jimmy kimmel live (don rickles, ozzy). i decided that i would like to take this time to review my latest dig, Tacklebox by the hip hop dou, The Cool Kids.
i get in the right state of mind, tuck myself in bed, throw my headphones on and start typing::
so,, im a big wiz khalifa fan. i saw him in pamona, california a couple months ago and i follow him on twitter... well, one day, he tweeted "#tacklebox". i was like "wtf?", so i checked it out. turned out it was a trending topic advertising the cool kids newest free mixtape, tacklebox. i decided to take a look at their website to download it, i put it on my ipod and started listening to it...over...and over...and over..... again.
the entire thing is veryyy different.. styles range from midwest (ie. kid cudi, chip tha ripper), new york (ie. mobb deep, jay z), nor cal (new boyz, the pack), LA (ice cube, dr dre)..
they also have real good lyrics. example from the song, going camping:
"i was here like a pioneer
im nasty like your first time tryin beer
my rap sheet is a list of the sickest
got herbs and chickens
all ripe for the pickin
the 2nd one is better like the remix to 'ignition'
even when we whisper
...niggas steady listenin.."
pretty much every style of hip hop done SOOPER SIMPLE but just right.. it was the best $0.00 i have ever spend (asides from in rainbows lol).
