Exodus – Fabulous Disaster

The Line Up
Steve Souza – vocals
Gary Holt – guitars
Rick Hunolt – guitars
Rob Mckillop – bass
Tom Hunting – drums

The Last Act Of Defiance
The song starts with a voice which is talking about a prison of some sort? Not a perfect song to kick of the album but this is still thrash metal after all. The song isen’t catchy in any way and the solo is almost a disaster so I can give it a higscore. 3.5/5

Fabulous Disaster
Starts with chunky riffing followed by drums, has a catchy verse and the chorus is more than great and the guitarsolo is good. I can’t make any sense out of the lyrics, but it is a fast and tight song, one of the better songs of the album. 5/5

The Toxic Waltz
This song is not as fast as Fabulous Disaster but has it has more sound of heavy metal than thrash metal. It has a great opening riff but the solos is neither good or bad. The song is about this toxic waltz, some kind of dance where you can kick your partners a**. The song is catchy and this is a song you can listen to many times without being bored. 5/5

Low Rider
I’m not sure but I think this is a cover from ZZ Top. This is the shortest song of the album and sounds very good though. 4/5

Cajun Hell
Starts with sounds from a swamp and later the band kicks in. The start has a little touch of country in its melody but later turn into Exodus area of playing. The song is about the dangers that lurks in the swamps such as alligators and other reptiles. The song has good verses and choruses and good lyrics. 5/5

Like Fahter, Like Son
The longest song, can’t make sense of the lyrics. The song has some better solos than previous songs but the song isen’t catchy in any way. 3.5/5

Corruption
Boring song, the riffs are not good at all and wierd lyrics plus a guitarsolo that sounds like the rest of the other solos. 2/5

Verbal Razors
This song is fast and has a great riff and the drums are very good. Steve has the special gift of singing fast in some times, here he sings fast in the same tempo as the song. A cool song worth listening to. 5/5

Open Season
Has a kind of happy feeling to the opening riff and turns into the worse. The song gets better after about two minutes maybe. Not my favorite. 2.5/5

Overdose
Has a great opening riff which makes the song to the slowest song of the album. I’m not sure about the lyrics but it seems like he is overdosed on his girlfreind and not on any type drug. One of the better songs. 4/5

This album has both very bad songs and very good songs, this is one of Exodus better albums but I’m not to sure but I think so. I can recommend this album to those who likes thrash metal.
The highlights of this album is The Toxic Waltz, Fabulous Disaster and Verbal Razors. If you are going to buy the cd you better listen to the songs before you buy it. I think I will give it: 4/5. (This album is very hard to judge)

I saw these guys live when they opened for Megadeth last november and i have to say that I think they sucked. They are like a second or third rate Slayer with stupid lyrics.

I wrote something wrong on the first track, it is supposed to be ¨so I can't give it a highscore¨. And one more thing priestmetal, slayer belongs to the more extreme style of thrash so their lyrics is always like that.

About The Last Act Of Defiance, one of the best thrash tracks ever.

"The subject matter of this track deals with the horrific 1980 New Mexico Prison riot, the worst in US Penal history. Various highlights included 33 killings including decapitation by shovel, faces and private parts melted with blow torches, various hangings, prisoners thrown from third story tiers and 200 rapes. Suitably Exodus' retelling of this grim affair is as twisted and sadistic as the riot itself, a constant thrash battering featuring the band's excellent backing harmonies and some distorted soloing from the 'H Squad'. What prompted Exodus to write about this I would like to know, but the results equal Slayer's most vicious work, a landmark of the genre."

slayer is speed metal two different things !

listen to the difference! speed metal has less talent

Slayer are Thrash you idiot, and Speed Metal requires just as much talent as Thrash :-

lol I remember cottonmaiden, that douche tried to tell me that Kirk Hammet was never in Exodus.

Anyway, I listened to this, Bonded by Blood, and Hell Awaits on my trip to N.J. This is my favorite of the three.

Exodus with Rob Halford is vastly different than Exodus with Souza or Paul (not to mention like, 2x better). But yeah wizard, this album is soooo good, probably my favorite Exodus album. I'm very tempted to give this a 5. Anyone who enjoys thrash and has this at less than a 4 is an automatic fail in my book.

Oh yeah, and Overdose is an AC/DC cover btwThis Message Edited On 04.06.08
