Review Summary: Great second album from the irish quartet.
Since their debut album ‘Rise’ in 2006, The Answer have exploded onto the rock scene with a major bang. With critical acclaim aplenty, praise from true rock legends such as Jimmy Page and awards including Classic Rock best new band of 2006, the Northern Ireland four-piece have managed to bring their music from the basement and successfully unleash it onto the unsuspecting public. Now 2009 could shape up to be The Answer’s best year yet. Not only have they made a new record that is sure to be widely accepted but they are also currently on tour in the U.S with rock heavyweights AC/DC. Impressive. “Everyday Demons” is the title of their new album and it evidently shows why AC/DC choose The Answer as their supporting artists for their Black Ice tour. From the classical guitar riffs and the screeching voice of Cormac Neeson, it’s a clear comparison to the monsters of classic rock that they currently supporting. At first listen, “Everyday Demons” sounds repetitive but listen again. Monster riffs there may be in most songs, but the chords behind it are different and certainly Neelson tends to adapt his voice in different ways throughout the album. The first single to be released from “Everyday Demons” will be “On And On” and it has to be said is probably the best song on the record. From Neelson’s razor sharp vocals to the mind bending guitar solos, “On And On” should prove enough to sway the public into buying this album. “Pride” is also a welcome track and with the lyrics “Leave all that cocaine in my room” featured in ‘Walkin’ Mat’, its seems that The Answer are not scared to be controversial.
“Everyday Demons” is everything you would expect a classical rock group to produce. Uncannily similar to their Australian friends AC/DC, The Answer certainly know how to make a very good record. ’Rise’ was great, ’Everyday Demons’ is very good, lets just hope that their next record is of the same calibre. So its decision time. They have provided the tracks, now you provide the answer.
