Review Summary: Bang Bang Chitty Bang Bang 2001 is Dr. Dre's follow up album to The Chronic, an early 90's rap masterpiece that set Dr. Dre's place in the rap world concrete. After this album he would go on to play more of a producer role, famously unearthing Eminem and setting himself back in the sidelines as a performer somewhat. So pretty much, people forgot about Dre. More about that later. Anyway, the man is a master of using air in between notes, perfecting each track to the best production it could possible ever expect. The man is worth a dime because of his talents.
2001 is his comeback album, and what a huge album it was. He adresses his absence and how it has affected the world of rap on The Watcher, the opening track after the Dolby Digital sound spoof of Lola. (Nigga I started this gangsta ***, this the mother***ing thanks I get?). Another song he adresses this is Still D.R.E., one of the best tracks i've ever heard (mother***er you said dre fell off, no nigga my last album was the chronic) to a simple piano rhythm looped over and over. There's something celeberatory about the tracks on this album, sort of great party stuff but not with your typical beats. Many of these songs are about the S.E.X. thing (I spelt it phonetically cuz kids are around), *** You features Snoop, Xxplosive, Bar One (Two girls at a bar carry on about picking up), Let's Get High (and ***) and even a track with sampled sex sounds, Pause 4 Porno. Not to mention Housewife (Can't make a ho a Housewife.)
Other songs are pretty much typical gangsta stuff, some of my favourites are Big Ego's which has some old time airport radio station recording at the beginning which is cool. What's The Difference and Forgot About Dre features Eminem cameos (and what great performances they are), The Next Episode (a tribute to the leafy green.) Bang Bang is one of my favourite songs, looped with a sample of "everywhere I go, all I ever seem to hear" with an explosive section of gunfire going "Bang Bang Chitty Bang Bang!". It's quite clever, and if one thing this album and Dre's talents are prized for it's his superb talent as a proddy. The samples used always fit, always. The guest stars on this album cement it in the halls of the best of rap.
In short, cause from Eazy-E, to D.O.C., to D.P.G. started from that S.O.B., D.R.E. Pay homage, Nigga.

| | | This isn't a bad review, but it reads like more like a 4 than a 5.
| | | I don't know why this bothers me, but there are only ever 3 ***'s used when you censor. I demand the amount of '*' used correspond to the amount of letters you are bleeping. Yes, I am anal.

2001 a 5? I didn't even think The Chronic was a 5.

Dude you just don't learn do you? This review has the exact, THE EXACT same problems your others had. IDK if you don't want to learn or just don't get it, or whatever the reason is, but you aren't doing shit about your reviews. This review is on the exact same level as your first one was, and you know what, your first one was not very good. You have gotten tons of good critisism and advice from other users but you are not using it. You say that you like constructive critisism, but what's the point of giving any if you don't listen to it AT ALL. Dude just listen to the advice you have already gotten in your other reviews, or just don't even bother reviewing at all, since this reveiw is very bad, and so are the rest of your reviews. Damn it, use the good advice you have gotten for once!!!

This is a superb album. In this genre of Hip Hop, is one of the best. This is a regular 'gangsta' album, with a lot of heavy beats. Lyrical most is about being the best or most admirered. The only reason why its not rated 5, is because the best 'gangsta' albums has a more raw sound. This album is simply to clean (safe), to be a truly legend.
| | | this is by no means one of the best hip hop albums
