Weezer is:
River Cuomo
Brin Bell
Matt Sharp
Patrick Wilson

Weezer's first album (referred to as The Blue Album) is their masterpiece. Released in 1994, Weezer's first album became a successful hit with songs such as The Sweator Song, Buddy Holly, and Say It Ain't So. It's hailed as a classic, and turned Weezer into one of the most successful rock groups of the 90s.

After the Blue Album, Weezer returned with Pinkerton in 1996. Unlike their debut, Pinkerton wasn't as catchy and happy, and the lyrics were more emotional and less funny, and didn't sell quite as well as their first album did. It received many mixed reviews and was hailed as one of the worse albums of 1996 by Rolling Stone. Despite the disrespect it recieved, it's still considered a classic by many Weezer fans. In 1997, Weezer went on hiatus.

The band reformed in 2000 and released The Green Album in 2001. Unlike The Blue Album, the Green Album was way too poppy, and a little too short for a Weezer release. In 2002, Weezer released Maladroit, where the band's guitar playing began to get heavier and less alternative. Unfortunately, certain Weezer fans were dissapointed by these albums, but some still enjoyed them. Weezer then returned with Make Believe a few years later. Some think that the band have gone back to their old ways with this album, but some still see it as crappy was the recent Weezer material.

But even if that's the case, Weezer still remain a successful rock band. And this album definitley proves it. Great guitar playing, a sense of humor, and some of the best lyrics you'll ever hear. It's great, it addictive, it's Weezer's best album yet. A must have for anyone who wants to get into Weezer.

My Name Is Jonas
Starts with Jason's acoustic guitar playing. Before Brian Bell joined, Jason Cropper was the band's origianl guitar player. He contributed to some of the album by playing acoustic guitar. As for the lyrics, I can't quite tell what they mean, but they do prove River's unique sense of humor and songwriting. Good way to start the album. 9/10

No One Else
One the catchy songs on this album. It's about a girl who appears to be weird. THis song once again proves River's sense of humor, but not the kind of Weezer song I'd listen to all the time. 8/10

The World Has Turned And Left Me Here
An acoustic guitar and harmonica is used once again on this track. A pretty slow track, which is better than the previous track, but not as sufficient as the first track. 9/10

Buddy Holly
My personal favorite Weezer song. The video where the band plays at the bar on the Happy Days show is also very funny. Catchy guitar playing, and funny lyrics. Keyboards are also used on this track. 10/10

Undone (The Sweater Song)
Starts with a drum beat, then Brian starts playing an arpeggio. Can't really determine what this songs about, but it's one of the band's best songs. As the song goes on, it starts getting louder, but then it ends with some piano playing. Very nice chrous as well. 9/10

Surf Wax America
The tempo in this song is quicker than the previous songs, kind of making it like an indie rock song. Very catchy. The chorus at the last minute of the song is very good, but then the tempo builds up very fast on the last 30 seconds of the song. 9.5/10

Say it ain't so
The second best song on this album. Starts with a quite verse, then it gets loud. The first verse is played again, with a solo added to it. Very nice and relaxing song to listen to. 10/10

In the garage
River's once again proves his songwriting genius. An acoustic guitar and harmonica are used once again in the intro. In this song, River's describes how he spends his time in the garage writing stupid songs and stupid words. Either he really means it or he's just being funny again. He also talks about his favorite band KISS. Good chorus as well. 9.5/10

Holiday
Starts with a verse and a solo. At 1:40, it gets quite with finger snappings, bass, and a chorus which makes it very catchy, then it gets loud again. 10/10

Only In Dreams
Starts with Matt playing bass. Throughout the entire track, he plays the same bass riff over and over again which fits in perfectly for this song. After the first 4 minutes, it gets quite again with the bass, then the guitar comes in. It starts to build up, then the same riff that Matt plays is played on guitar. A great track to listen to, and a great way to close a fantastic album. 10/10

Like I said before, this album is great. From start to finish, Weezer delivers some of the best songs of the 90s, and this album definitely proves how creative Weezer can be. You should deinitely buy it instead of downloading it. A must have.

10/10

Pinkerton is a very good Weezer album as well, but the Blue album is where the band is most creative IMO.This Message Edited On 06.12.05

I would give all of these tracks 9's and 10's. This is the most near to a perfect recording possible. I feel Pinkerton is a few more steps away from greatness than this is. Still I love and respect Pinkerton.
