I really like this album, it was the first Deep Purple album I"ve ever listened to and its made me want more albums. These guys really know how to play their instruments and that"s what I love in music, people with talent and Deep Purple have that. The tracks are very long. Most around the 10 minute mark, you might think they get a bit boring after about 5 minutes but I assure you, you don"t. You want more and more because Deep Purple have something about them that makes all their music great, but I"m not too sure what it is. IMO this is their best album out of the huge collection I own and I owe it to this great album. It made me buy more albums, it persuaded me but I don"t regret it at all. My favourite track is a hard choice but being a drummer, id have to say The Mule simply because it has an amazing drum solo in it performed by the legendary Ian Paice. I didn"t really know how good he was until I heard this but I knew he was respected. My least favourite track is also very tough because all the tracks are great. Space Truckin' has got to be my least favourite. I mean 20 minutes is too long, don"t get me wrong its a good song but I usually get bored of a song after about 6 or 7 minutes so this is to much. It was a hard choice selecting the rating because I really like this album and if the tracks were a bit shorter id give it 5 definitely but the tracks are so long, it makes you bored. I urge you to listen to this album because it"s amazing. If you get bored switch to a different track because I know you don"t really want to be listening to the same thing for 20 minutes.
Overall this is a great album and deserves 4.75 but 4.75 isn"t there so 4.5 it is

Only an extremely biased Deep Purple fan would claim that.

Deep Purple always seemed like a second-rate band to me. They just don't cut it.

Greatest live album ever! better than all their studio albums, Richies guitar is off the hook here but is toned down on the studio albums.
