Mechina - The Assembly of Tyrants 46:41

Line-up:
Vocals - Dave Holch
Guitar - Joe Tiberi
Bass - Jon Oloier
Drums - Scott Oloier
I'm not sure who does Keyboards.

Mechina is an industrial/death metal band from the Chicago area. They currently are not signed to a record label, although they have gotten many offers. This is their first full-length release.

The Good:
The Assembly of Tyrants is 45 minutes of pure, amazing, atmospheric metal. It does not and cannot get much better. First, let me start off by saying that the drum work leaves me in awe. On Shattered Cry, the drumming is just insanely fast, the man knows how to use the double-bass, that's for sure. Also noteworthy is the keyboarding. It creates breath-taking atmospheres in songs like Clash of Cultures and is never over used like in some other bands. Another cool thing is that they added some interludes to add to the overall atmosphere, making this CD seem almost symphonic. Also, the lyrics are very intelligent.

The Average:
Well for one the vocals are alright, but nothing special. Dave does try to mix it up a little by using clean vocals in songs like Afterimage, but it doesn't really bring anything too new to the table. The guitar/bass work is nothing special, there are some unique riffs here and there but it leaves me desiring a little more creativity. Could use some guitar solos.

The Bad:
Nothing.

Although there were a few things that weren't completely amazing, it all adds up to create one amazingly solid release. I highly recommend this to fans of early Fear Factory.
No guitar solos. What the hell? You have got to have at least one guitar solo, I mean c'mon. The bass work is just basically following the guitar, it doesn't really add anything.
How can there be no guitar solos and still give a 5? Even if everything else was kickass then I would only give it a 3 maybe. Review wasn't good at all. Very little objectivity. EDIT:I have to neg it.This Message Edited On 12.15.06 THis kinda sounds like a SP rippoff. Machina? Machina GOd?This Message Edited On 12.15.06

Clash Of Cultures is just a mind blowing tune. I can't really seem to find the real album though.

Finally found a link of their 5 song demo. Got it, and pretty great although songs are the same.

Yeah, the ep. Streamed it. Seems, nobody cares about this band other than us two.
