  • InbredJed oh absolutely! I'm not saying that AN isn't an exemplary film. In fact, Kubrick spent a great deal of effort making sure that FMJ was not covering the same ground as AN because he regarded it as the quintessential Vietnam film. And now that you mention it, perhaps it was the 3 hour redux edition that I wathced, perhaps its time to re-visit that one!

  • InbredJed Ya Godfathers are obligatory viewing, Apocalypse Now had great sets and performances, but it feels bloated. I honestly think Platoon and FMJ get the point across about Vietnam in more concise and interesting way. (concurrently, I'm not really a fan of most of Michael Mann's stuff for the same reason).
