| FistfulOfSteel (lets you know when artists in your library are coming to your area). its also got a facebook-esque wall thing that you can post on with other people, sputniks got a pretty big last.fm community. i can't tell you how much better my music collection has got since i started with last.fm

| FistfulOfSteel just go to www.last.fm, and set up an acc't. it'll have you dl' this program (scrobbler) that links up with whatever you play your music on (iTunes, windows media etc) and essentially keeps track of recently played songs/artists, for a variety of timeframes and gives you an overall artist/track play counts. it also has a recommendations section where they rec you new artists based on stuff you've played recently and keeps track of local music events in your area
