Dixie Dregs The Great Spectacular
A great collection of demos to what the songs would later become. It's interesting to hear how morse developed his soloing into what would be the final product. The rest of the band rips as usual, with rod morgenstein showing a bit more presence with his drumming, notably on "ice cakes."
Allan Holdsworth Atavachron
The usual holdsworth-esque shenanigans here, albeit slightly more accessible than later releases. Holdsworth's
backup weapon: the synthaxe, makes it's debut here, which compliments the music nicely (although it just
sounds like a keyboard) and a stunning female vocalist adds a nice twist to the music in the later tracks, singing
those "off" notes that Holdsworth specialises in. Although not AS accessable as metal fatigue, some of
Holdsworth's trickiest leads are featured here, and puts other guitarists to shame, in a very English way.
Thomas Dolby The Flat Earth
Outstanding. Dolby's follow up album is of very high quality indeed. Every track has it's own unique feel, resulting in a listen that simply catches you off guard. Even though only one track is remotely similar to his debut new wave style, each track is very professionally executed.
Thomas Dolby Aliens Ate My Buick
Album is 1/3 excellent, and 2/3 average. Although you never quite know what's coming next since all tracks are remarkably different. Budapest by blimp could be his best song ever.
Thomas Dolby The Golden Age of Wireless
A great album, airwaves is a great example of a catchy song with unorthodox chords.

  • OmairSh No worries dude, it badly needed a review. Only 5 comments, a damn shame sputnik. Yeah dude I say we get on the discog, just let the other person know the album you want to take. I'm thinking about Stressfest for SMB. Still need to decide on a Dregs album. Either DOTG, or UH. I'll let you know when I start writing.
