  • puntugruhm the 60s was for sure one of the best, if not the best decades for cinema.i need to check marketa.my 60s favorites that id recommend to you are:gertrud, ivan's childhood, red desert, vivre sa vie, 8 1/2, simon of the desert (short), winter light, seconds, lolita, and persona.

  • puntugruhm yeah. streets of shame holds up to this day imo. Some others 1960 and eariler films that i recommend are:children of paradise, la grande illusion, l'avventura, faust, summer with monika, shadow of a doubt, breathless, the killing, shoot the piano player.I think the 60s is the decade where cinema really took off though...

  • puntugruhm i get your point, a lot of directors from that timeframe didn't have that 'real horror' aesthetic, which make some of the films hard to find interest in. It probably had something to do with restrictions on film during the early 1900s. That being said, there are some really fantastic films that have come out during that timeframe. I mean luis bunuel's stuff is truly amazing, really no-limits type of cinema. Watch 'un chien andalou', if you already haven't.
