Blur/New Order Mates Form Band 2009-06-15 by Lestrade | 6 Replies | 1342 Views |
Blur bassist Alex James teams up with New Order members Bernard Sumner (singer), Stephen Morris (drummer), and Phil Cunningham (guitarist) for a new band called Bad Lieutenant.
The band is forming in the wake of New Order (1980 - 2007), which formed in the wake of Joy Division (1976-1980).
Sumner had this to say about New Order's break-up: "We split into two factions, there's me, Steve and Phil. The other is Peter Hook, Basically he left the band, that's all I want to say about it."
The new band is set to tour later this year, with their debut album already recorded and coming out this October. There are 3 guitarists in Bad Lieutenant, so naturally, Sumner says the album sounds "pretty guitary", and also stating that he's "very proud of it, it's a very good album."
