Comment by the band on the album:

Quote:
"We can't wait for you guys to hear this album! We are very proud of it, and in our humble opinions, it is very reminiscent of what you have come to know and love about ZAO over the years. Every band likes to say, 'This new album is our best yet,' so we won't say that to you. We know that albums like 'Blood & Fire' and 'Liberate' will always be fan favorites and they are special to us as well. But with that being said, believe us when we say that we strongly feel 'Awake?' is a more than worthy addition to our catalog."

Awake? will be released on May 5th through Ferret Records.

Not really into these guys but will give them a shot when I get home. Have to say track 1 and 4 have some pretty hilariously bad names.

Good guitarwork but the vocals bother me.

you people are retarded if you think this album tops their last one.

this is more like funeral of god. that's not a good thing. i so thought this band had returned to form...guess it was fleeting. clean vocals and Zao should never mix.

they should stuck with Albini for this album too...

Ya know, I just don't get this band I guess. They sound so plain to me. They're not bad by any means, I just don't quite understand what makes them "great." I must be listening to the wrong songs/albums. Anyone recommend what would make me fall in love with them?

It's not terrible but it almost just feels like your in a room listening to a jam session. At least, with the bands I've been in I know guitars go off on these jam style riffs and run with it. This is kind of just a collection of those...pretty well shown in Human Cattle Masses Marching Forward.

Not bad. It will probably grow on me.

And for me the order of Zao albums goes Funeral of God > Where Blood and Fire Bring Rest > Liberate Te Ex Inferis > Parade of Chaos/(Self-Titled) > All Else Failed > The Fear Is What Keeps Us Here > The Splinter Shards the Birth of Separation
