|
| |
Haha this got raked by Angry Metal Guy.
he hasn't reviewed this yet
this album is amazing
|
| |
i think Four Phantoms got a negative/mixed review there.
|
| |
it got a 2.5/5.0, which means 'average'. not negative as far as AMG goes (used to work with him)
the reviewer actually really liked the longer tracks
|
| |
The longer tracks on Phantoms were way better than the short stacks imo
|
| |
agreed
|
| |
So Seven is either a psychic or wrong in every regard. kinda want to start a pointless discussion over the meaning(s) of average.
but yeah track 1 and 3 are the best on "Four Phantoms"
|
| |
'average' in the sense of AMG's rating scale means run of the mill or an album that is let down by something pretty glaring. i, too, however, don't really want to start a discussion of what 'average' means in the grand scene of things.
|
| |
oh just kidding it was Last Rites.
https://yourlastrites.com/2017/10/18/bell-witch-mirror-reaper-review/
|
| |
i mean, there's a lot i take issue with in that review (most of it just pure disagreement obv.) but this takes the cake
"With that said, while the vast majority of writers, journalists, reviewers, etc. kneel on the carpet taking Bell Witch’s cum in their hair and eyes, I must stand up and tell it the way I see (or hear) it."
to be completely honest any reviewer that writes for a publication that takes the stance of "since every other reviewer loves it i have to say something" should just, like, stop
|
| |
dude spent 1.5 paragraphs describing the music and 4 twaddling in analogy and complaining about how boring the track was.
|
| |
basically, yeah.
|
| |
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Bell Witch. The songwriting is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of funeral doom's philosophical underpinnings most of the musical expressions will go over a typical listener’s head. There’s also the band's painfully restrained approach to the genre, which is deftly woven into its characterisation- a personal philosophy drawing heavily from the still waters running between life and death. The fans understand this aesthetic; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the emotive depths and longform expression, to realise that they’re not just deep - they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Bell Witch truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, and soul crushing desire for release on "So Below” which itself is a cryptic reference to The Emerald Tablet of Hermes Trismegistus. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dylan Desmond’s visionary genius unfolds itself before their very ears. What fools.. how I pity them.

you'll never get back the time it took you to edit that
|
| |
Checked this out because of the album art. Always disappointing when the album art FAR outclasses the music
|
| |
I regret nothing
|
| |
So many morons in these Bell Witch threads.
