sounds like a good way to end an album
|
| |
it's on the lower end of Converge closers as far as i can tell (certainly doesn't come close to Jane Doe or Wretched World) but it's a pretty solid track nonetheless
|
| |
not feeling this one as much as the others but it's still pretty good
album shaping up to be around a 3.5 or so if i had to guess
|
| |
if somebody played the first 2 mins of the song to me, I'd never guess it's a Converge song tbh
|
| |
Really weird intro for a Converge song but it works.
Song is decent.
|
| |
Love Me Like A Reptile cover would be better
|
| |
So far the album sounds like it will be about on the same level as No Heroes, or worse. Which isn't bad, but this is low-tier Converge for sure.
|
| |
I loved the energy and constant ferociousness of AtF and AWLWLB and it's just not coming through on any of the songs they've released this far
|
| |
they've released three songs you reactionary fucks lol. hardly enough to know what the whole album is gonna sound like. don't doubt the legends.
|
| |
god damn yall some triggerhappy dumb dumbs
|
| |
Not to mention all three songs are cool as fuck
|
| |
Yeah they're all good quality, but who knows about the rest of the album. Could be better, could be worse, could even be all the same quality throughout
|
| |
Fucking BOOOOOORING
|
| |
What are you guys on this is awesome
|
| |
so boring
|
| |
snore inducing album so far
|
| |
Shit's gonna slap hard 'cause Converge don't release bad albums.
|
| |
song is great as usual but it sounds more like it should open an album than close one, but let's see how it fairs to the rest of the album.
|
| |
this rules, jacob has sounded incredible on these singles
|
| |
You should probably use this link instead, since it's from the official Epitaph channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsQ69nLEX84
|
| |
Loved the other tracks but this isn't really pulling me in. For an album closer this is pretty boring tbh
|
| |
It's a pretty good song but disappointing for a album closer.
|
| |
This was a snoozer, boring af
|
| |
Only jammed once on my way to work. Enjoyed it a fair bit. I didn't vibe hard with Under Duress immediately but it grew on me. I think this will too. Dug some of the guitar work.
|
| |
PS, thumbnail is hilarious.
|
| |
I don't like when bands release closing tracks as singles, especially when they are as underwhelming as this one. I would have been content with Eve being the closer for this album.
|
| |
Eve as a closer would have ruled.
|
| |
song's cool but has others have said, it's quite underwhelming as a closer
|
| |
Yeah, that would have been cool. I don't even care if there is another similar track on here. Eve is lit af 100.
|
| |
There is a lot of cool shit going on in the sound image during the intro. Been digging the general level of noise on this album so far.
|
| |
Maybe they'll pull some hidden track shit, and 10 minutes after "Reptilian" ends, "Eve" starts.
Doubt it tho
|
| |
Eve as a closer would have ruled. [2]
I'm probably going to buy the single and then edit it as the closer when I get the record.
|
| |
DIY til u die
|
| |
i won’t be surprised if they release the album with bonus tracks since i believe they recorded 18 songs. having eve be the closer would not be surprising at all, if it is included as a bonus. but i guess we’ll see. i like the song but I also can’t say i could be too critical as to its place considering the whole album isn’t out yet.
|
| |
How is it a weird intro for them? They have other intros like this. ''Wretched World'' for example.
|
| |
Yeah I wouldn't judge this too hardly yet. Definitely one of their weaker closers but still a bangin track tbh. Wait til the rest of the record is out.
|
| |
converge song isnt at 500 bpm 0/10 except eve eve is the exception fuck other slow songs and i guess that other grim heart song was okay too
song rules
|
| |
"How is it a weird intro for them? They have other intros like this. ''Wretched World'' for example."
not similar at all
|
| |
Yeah, I'm digging this a bit. I do agree that it kind of sucks when a band releases the closer as a single.
Side note: I Can Tell You About Pain fucking rules.
|
| |
Oh, shit! 99% sure Bannon is wearing an Oranssi Pazuzu shirt in the thumb nail. Wicked.
|
| |
Time to spaz out
|
| |
dbizzles yeah he wore that shirt on a few days of their tour with neurosis and amenra too. good taste!
|
| |
cant wait to see em at vitus so they can not play yfm but i gotta sit thru this 1
I can Tell you About Pain and under duress r better than this no question
kurt getting kinda lazy too tbh
|
| |
This is seriously the closing track? Sigh. Album will still rule
|
| |
"Oh, shit! 99% sure Bannon is wearing an Oranssi Pazuzu shirt in the thumb nail. Wicked."
That's what I was gonna say. Man has good taste. :3
|
| |
Lol ok I guess you haven't listened to Converge at all then. If you think this is a weird thing for them to do intros like this.
|
| |
this is a weird intro to a converge song if the only converge songs you've heard are aimless arrow and concubine sure
|
| |
I really like how Jake is mixed on this. He sounds really clear and pure. Less marred by effects and filtering.
This is a weird closer for them, but it's still a banger of a song.
|
| |
This album so far is having a real raw garage-band sound. I love that each of their albums has a different sound
|
| |
"this is a weird intro to a converge song if the only converge songs you've heard are aimless arrow and concubine sure"
wtf do your ears just go "OH YEA THAT PART IS QUIET, NOTHING NEW FOR THEM" yea they wrote like 5 songs with a clean guitar intro lol but none of them sound similar to this, this has some darkened almost eastern/arabic feel to it. I mean I'm not saying that's a bad thing or anything, they surprise me like this with each album, that's what I love about this band.
|
| |
@SpiritCrusher2 If you wanna hear Converge go eastern/arabic, listen to "They Stretch for Miles" from The Poacher Diaries.
|
| |
This is one of those bands that I just can't seem to give a shit about.
No range of emotion or dynamics.
Nothing that stands out.
I've tried, and I'll keep trying... but man I get nothing from them.
|
| |
saying there is no emotion or dynamics seems really inaccurate but no one can fault you for not being into them. it took me a long time to click but it doesn’t happen for everyone!
|
| |
Kind of a lame closer.
|
| |
i really dig this song
|
| |
Sounds like a HoF song
not bad tho
|
| |
I'd say that intro riff is uncharacteristically simple for them
|
| |
I mean they've done far, far simpler riffs than that
|
| |
I'm saying more in terms of tone. This is like standardized metal intro fare. If a punk band (and that's what they refer to themselves as to) starts a song with two chords downstroked at a blinding speed - that's just style. But this really basic take on the eastern vibe just doesn't seem very Converge-like. It always reminds me of something like "Eye Of The Beholder".
|
| |
^ thank you!
|
| |
I hate when bands release the last track of the album as a single
|
| |
No range of emotion or dynamics.
Lmao wut...
|
| |
A. All the people complaining about the intro praised the eve intro and it’s essentially the same shit.
B. This is the second simple “mosh anthem” in a row that converge has ended an album with but no one complained about predatory glow.
C. This band can cover “wolverine blues” and get acclaim and everyone’s stoked but the second they write a song that’s clearly influenced by that era entombed everyone cries because it’s boring?
This user base man
|
| |
[2]
|
| |
"No range of emotion or dynamics."
Yeah man. Listened to half of Jane Doe and I got nothing from it. There were no moments that made me go "That was brutal as hell" or "man was that epic" because everything is delivered in this monochromatic, guttural scream. Nothing stands out. No matter how hard I try I just seem to miss the hype on these guys.
|
| |
gasp
|
| |
lmao
|
| |
"ferociousness" + "AWLWLB"
Boi wat? thats the softest, most radio friendly converge ever
|
| |
"no one complained about predatory glow"
dude like half of awlwlb thread is about how predatory glow shouldn't be a closer lol
|
| |
"Listened to half of Jane Doe"
Lmfao dude you have absolutely zero basis to make claims about the band's dynamics or emotional depth, at least listen to the closer or listen to literally any other Converge album that came out after before making yourself look like more of an ignorant fuck
|
| |
"Lmfao dude you have absolutely zero basis to make claims about the band's dynamics or emotional depth"
"listen to the closer or listen to literally any other Converge album that came out after before making yourself look like more of an ignorant fuck"
I don't think those are fair comments man. I get the concept of listening to an entire album before making a judgement about this. I normally do that, but when an album doesn't do anything and I'm halfway through it I don't really have a reason to keep going. I didn't say this band is garbage or that I don't see how anyone can get anything from them, I just said that I personally don't find anything to hold onto.
Second of all, I get that the closer is usually the emotional climax of an album, but if I need to listen to all of it just to find something interesting then, to me, the album still isn't interesting, it just has a good closer.
It seems that I struck a nerve with you about not liking your favorite band or something so I'm going to chalk it up to you having a bad day. If you have suggestions about where to start or what to listen for I'd love to hear it.
|
| |
^^^Dude, you're testing the waters with Converge fans. They're beyond saving!
|
| |
Fair point, and honestly despite it's massive rating on here I can't recommend starting with Jane Doe, it's one of their least accessible albums. Check axe to fall or all we love we leave behind. Both tend to save their more dynamic moments for the end of the album, but they're both more immediate and easier to get into
|
| |
[2]
|
| |
I actually started with No Heroes, but yeah I do recommend either Axe to Fall or All We Love for a starting point.
|
| |
pree much, everything else is too d e n s e
|
| |
I really like the way drums sound on this.
|
| |
yfm is best
|
| |
that was garbage until the last minute and then it was ok.
|
| |
it has that neurosis swagger
|
| |
Cant say im too hyped for this after these tracks. Only Eve was real good.
|
| |
These comments are garbage.
|
| |
Wish they stopped after all we love. Would have been a prefect album to go out on
|
| |
it's amazing, i don't understand all this complains
|
| |
Seems pretty generic by their standards tbh. Nothing really new or exciting musically.
|
| |
Less than a month now laddies
|
| |
"Seems pretty generic by their standards tbh. Nothing really new or exciting musically."
Does it need to be?
|
| |
"Seems pretty generic by their standards tbh. Nothing really new or exciting musically."
It's terrific. That makes it exciting.
|
| |
I'm hoping they don't release any more singles.
|
| |
lol cmon
|
| |
wolfe y do u not expect PERFECTION
song is lame. disappointing
kinda like a half-assed neurosis nod
|
| |
"because everything is delivered in this monochromatic, guttural scream. Nothing stands out."
is it hard being stupid
|
| |
Ffs the wait for the album is painful
|
| |
http://teamrock.com/review/2017-10-09/converge-the-dusk-in-us-album-review
review for the album, they gave it a 4.5/5. i’d expect it to leak soon if it does at all
|
| |
"is it hard being stupid"
Lol providing an opinion, backing it up with rationale, and thinking for myself doesn't make me stupid. Maybe you should reevaluate your definition of the word.
|
| |
I hope it actually is 4.5 worthy now, don’t wanna get my hopes crushed
|
| |
yeah me either but these guys don’t really have the kind of track record to release something hope crushing. we’ll see though, what is it 24 days now?
|
| |
Yup, still ages
|
| |
"Lol providing an opinion, backing it up with rationale, and thinking for myself doesn't make me stupid. Maybe you should reevaluate your definition of the word. "
Let him go, man. He's basically a running joke on this site that just thrives on confrontation to boost his ego ever since he's been here.
|
| |
Yeah, I probably take this site way too seriously.
|
| |
I initially found this song a bit underwhelming, but it's grown on me a lot. Jake sounds like he is gonna consume my flesh, in the best way possible.
|
| |
That review was seriously underwhelming. I wish the reviewer would have went into more detail. Seemed like a bunch of "it's brutal and emotional". Probably could've condensed the review into less than 2 paragraphs, which says something.
|
| |
yeah, they really don’t talk much about the album at all. really only notable for the score and that they’ve sent review copies out
|
| |
west coast tour announced. they are playing with sumac and cult leader. i am beyond jealous
|
| |
Woo, now I get to see them three times in one year
|
| |
