Vinyl is en route.
Digging: Kauan - Kaiho
^Sweet, Dungeon. Looking forward to checking this out.
Digging: Bell Witch - Mirror Reaper
will jam tomorrow, super hyped to see them live and all the singles have kicked ass
Digging: Circa Survive - The Amulet
Fuck yeah, hope it rips. I plan to see them at the end of the month regardless.
Jamming it now and it sounds pretttty nice
band needs to cut these soporific atmospheric sections out of their music, other than that this sounds pretty good
without the soporific atmospheric bs tho they'd just be a faster Burzum like everyone else.
superluminals: "band needs to abandon their identity and sound like everyone else"
Everybody's got a collaboner for Anna von Hausswolf right now yeah
Not as good as Diadem or Two Hunters but it beats the hell out of their newest bullshit
Feelin a 3.5 or maybe 4
i mean they sound like every other dime a dozen atmospheric black metal band too idk what difference it makes, their atmospheric sections arent anything special. at the end of the day black metal is black metal and there isnt much bands can do to sound "unique".
Disagree, if I had been shown this blind I would have recognized them pretty quickly. Sounds okay so far, production is kind of weird.
why is the guitar tone so crappy?
Production is ass hope it's just YouTube quality. It's like really sleek but in a plastic weird bad way
They definitely don't need to cut out the atmospheric sections they just need to transition into them better.
We have a promo of this and while I'm no audiophile I think it sounds better than the YouTube version. I don't really have any big issues with the production.
Digging: Kauan - Kaiho
Might wait until winter to spin this since Two Hunters is my go to snowy album
Digging: Blut Aus Nord - Deus Salutis Meae
Sweeeeet jamming now.
Digging: Mur - Heartworn
it still sounds icky on bandcamp.
Ok I'm halfway through and this sounds way different than any of their other albums in the best way possible. There's been some straight up Neurosis vibes at a few points so far.
Halfway through and it hasn't engaged me much, quite listenable though. I agree that the production isn't great (am listening on CD quality). There's no depth and immediacy to it.
This one is blowing me away tbh.
Love it personally. Whole record is pretty good.
loving it so far
Digging: Wolves in the Throne Room - Thrice Woven
Disclaimer: WITTR is by far my favorite band ever, by far. This album was a bit of a let down for me. I knew this would be the case as soon as I heard the first single - the main reason is the production. The guitars sound flat and boring, missing the epic and powerful vibes that the rest of their discog has. No longer do you have the two distinct guitars sounding in each side of your headphones interweaving their tremolo lines complementing each other. Classic examples of this are Vastness and Sorrow (starting at 3:19) and many of Black Cascade's songs, Ex Cathedra would be my prime example. Now there is just one guitar sound that is lost in the mix and is hard to hear. The drumming went from sounding very organic and even ritualistic sounding to sounding super mechanical and boring.
As for the songs, I actually like them. My only other complaint about them besides the production is that the song structures are very predictable. Metal part broken up by a slow interlude in the middle, ending with a metal part. Happens on literally every song. Besides that I find them really good and a couple might end up as some of my all time favorites by this band.
Oh one other complaint but this is kinda minor because it has no effect on the music. I don't like the lyrics very much. They seem to follow the same trend as Celestial Linage - theyre boring descriptions of a tree wankers dream. Their original stuff from everything pre-Celestial Lineage told mysterious, haunting, and mystical stories that were way more interesting.
This is how I would rank the songs. I love the first two on this list a TON, shame about the production.
1) The Old Ones Are With Us.
2) Fires Roar In The Palace Of The Moon
4) Born From The Serpents Eye
5) Mother Owl, Father Ocean
I've heard em play "The Old Ones Are With Us" live and it sounds incredible - guitars are much more powerful than the boring flat sound on the recording. I cant wait to hear the other songs live.

Yeah, I saw them in Vancouver a few weeks (?) back and other than Rocks and Roots that song was honestly the best part of their set. The album version is definitely good, but imo it's missing the impact of the live version.
Surprisingly fun live band
Digging: Protomartyr - Relatives In Descent
will check this later
Digging: Trivium - The Sin and the Sentence
One of the most anticipated records this year for me
Fucking digging this hard.
Had no idea Steve Von Till was on this until I heard his voice.
only a couple minutes into the first track but i'd be really interested to see what this sounds like on vinyl.
Production is fine. It's much better written and organized than Celestial Lineage though. Really enjoyed this.
Come on Zar stop being a buzzkill. ;]
Am I the only one that thought this was shit?
No, Zar is right there with you.
bros before wolf hoes high five wiz
idk man wolf hoes are pretty great
Whine In The Thread, Right?
dbizzles that was perfection
