DGD heading back to studio

2017-09-03 by Bootface | 38 Comments
Tillian Pearson, the current lead singer of Dance Gavin Dance, took to Twitter to announce that he would be going into the studio to record a new solo album on September 10th:

https://twitter.com/tilianpearson/status/903800457964822528

The post also mentioned that DGD is heading back into the studio on October 14th to begin recording for a new album. While no release date has been announced, it would seem a new DGD album isn't far off the horizon.

In the meantime, users interested in Tillian's solo work can check out his recent EP "Patient". The music resembles new Justin Bieber and other electronic effects laden pop rather than post hardcore.

While Tillian in DGD has probably been the most successful they've ever been, I cant help but feel like it's merely a paycheck for them these days. If anyone has ever seen them live theres no chemistry or enjoyment from any of the members on stage.

There was a lot of chemistry on stage when I saw them, you can tell they have a lot of fun doing this

While Mothership has grown on me, I still hope whatever they come out with next will be a bit more consistent in quality. No more flossie dickie bounce is all I'm saying.

>I've hated every tillian solo song I've heard

hmm that's unfortunate since he spans fairly diverse sounds while staying within pop-ish bounds. these are some of my favourites:

Drift - https://open.spotify.com/track/5Wk0qYxg64gyCAyVRBk1gr

Future Friends - https://open.spotify.com/track/4krsnoX4kBusHiiYG7cnPR

If people think this is a rushed release, they have released 7 albums (8 if you include the EP) in 12 years, so this sort of timeframe is pretty normal now that they actually have a stable lineup.

Pretty excited, fun band.

Sweet, this band is a machine. Not interested in the solo stuff though.

I liked Take You There. everything else was meh. It's unfortunate, he had some top notch pop on his first album. the 2nd was a bit more consistent but way too slow.

as for new DGD, Mothership is the pinnacle of swancore for me so keep em coming guys. but at the same time...where's more Secret Band?

The first time I saw them, the chemistry was great. Second time, Tillian seemed to be angry with someone...and then Jon's mic broke. It was still a good show though.

These guys have been releasing a lot of music recently, which is great because Mothership was a jam. Tilians solo stuff is a little too poppy for me. Looking forward to more Will Swan tho

when I saw them there was tonnes of chemistry, mostly between Tilian and Jon, Tim was off to one side though, but he's a proper red pill guy, the rest of the band aren't. Jon looked ill as well, probably british food

Have they ever really left the studio? It seems like a half of the band always stays there to keep the process going, cause if the recording stops, ancient spirits of listenable music will escape their imprisonment and make the Progressive Metal music again.

It's probably going to sound just like the last three albums, granted Mothership was alright but eh, I miss when their albums sounded different from one another. Guess it's either a stable lineup with more of the same each album or slight experimentation and a revolving door of musicians coming in and going out.
