R.I.P. Toshio Nakanishi 2017-02-26 by discovolante | 5 Comments | The groundbreaking Japanese musician, Toshio Nakanishi, passed away February 25th due to complications from esophageal cancer. He was first diagnosed with the disease last September before succumbing to the illness five months later. He was only 61 years old.
Nakanishi is considered to be a legendary artist in the field of electronic music, in particular with his band Plastics, which remains one of the most critically acclaimed new wave outfits of the 1980's in Japan. He also is a key figure in popularizing both house and hip hop music in Japan with his project Major Force which was active for over two decades.
