Well, Hybrid Theory 2 will never happen.....
just when I thought Linkin Park couldn't get lamer
Digging: Cap'n Jazz - Shmap'n Shmazz
That clickbait title though.
But yeah this is balls, was hoping they'd follow up the hunting party with something that didn't sound like a lame, slow, boring pop song.
Guess my article didn't go through lol
Lol I thought it said Ft Ciara for a split second
I know Chester has never exactly been the most stellar wordsmith, but you would have thought after six albums he would have realised that 'heavy' and 'carry' don't rhyme.
This being said, this is one of those songs that I'd like a lot more if it was by someone else. I actually really do like it as a pop song but after THP I thought Linkin Park were on the way up to their best again.
clearly want to head in a certain direction
lol this is so bad
I don't know why everyone is so shocked. This is Twenty-One Pilots doing exactly what Twenty-One Pilots does.
This wouldn't feel nearly as weird if it weren't coming right after the in-your-face The Hunting Party
This is so low and who the fuck is Kiiara?
Digging: Lorde - Melodrama
this is literally anything but heavy wtf
I don't even think it's that bad, chester just sounds really wierd, did expect it though after his horrible performance on The Hunting Party.
This is fucking horrible
What the fuck. These guys have been disappointing since Hybrid Theory with some exceptions from that album about suns.
@William21 that was a Twenty-One Pilots joke.
Terrible Linkin Park song and a terrible pop song.
Digging: Chelsea Wolfe - Pain Is Beauty
Lol wow. Wonder how much of the album will be in this style...
Digging: The Birthday Massacre - Under Your Spell
So terrible. Didn't they say before last album that they were going back to their "roots"? lol.
O. My. God.
I haven't heard anything theyve done since the pathetic stain of Minutes to Midnight but I could not have imagined how fucking lame these guys have become. That was kind of heart breaking
So depressed now. Was hoping they'd stay heavy.
Digging: Vince Staples - Big Fish Theory
Im too scared to listen. The hunting party was a fun album
This is definitely just straight up pop, in every conceivable sense.
They must be terribly brave releasing this as a first single, cos that, was fucking bad. Their last album was ok, largely because it was actually rock focused. But this? This is...actually, we should have seen this coming a mile away
Yeah, this is bad.
At least they're doing the pop direction better than Sonic Syndicate did.
; _ ;
Good fuck that was horrendous. Is Chester really turning to auto tune? The dude just can't sing anymore. His voice used to be awesome.
Never hated this band and I kinda counted on them to give me a cute catchy album but I really don't like this song. Nothing of it works
Good pop song, I like the vocal feature. A bit dull though.
Digging: The Dear Hunter - Migrant
Thanks Linkin Park I needed a good laugh
Oh boy can't wait to 1 the album
Digging: Guy Clark - Old No. 1
"Well, Hybrid Theory 2 will never happen....."
Digging: Lorde - Melodrama
I wish I could just overlook this as another average generic pop song.
But this was after The Hunting Party. The fucking Hunting Party.
I know. One of the worst albums ever.
Decent song. Who the fuck wants to listen to Hybrid Theory 2 or Meteora 2...
Digging: Hundredth - Rare
damn i was hyped for this but the single is hot garbage rip
Digging: Schammasch - The Maldoror Chants: Hermaphrodite
lol at people expecting anything other than garbage from Linkin Park
hunting party was great
why u lying bitch
Usually not bugged by Linkin Park, but this is some hot smelling crap right here boy.
The more people hate this the more I want to like it tbh.
ouf, hunting party was alright, this is poor af
that was hilarious
this song lmao
"Decent song. Who the fuck wants to listen to Hybrid Theory 2 or Meteora 2..."
As much as I agree with you... This song is not decent
I liked it
This is good. People need to stop whining about Linkin Park changing their sound, they do it on EVERY album. At least they actually experiment and evolve unlike some artists who make the same album 5 times.
Park goes Pop vol. I
Yeahh, I think it's pretty good. Quite catchy.
Digging: Mew - Visuals
the song is ok, nothing special. they said the hunting party's style was a one-time thing and that they were going to do something completely different after. I guess I just never expected it to be pop.
Digging: All Time Low - Last Young Renegade
Definitely a strong Twenty-One Pilots vibe. And that's not a good thing.
(Featuring Kiiara) oh boy is this gonna suck
yeah this sucks
I can vibe with them going pop if that's what they want to do but this song is the lowest common denominator when it comes to writing a pop song.
Digging: Brockhampton - Saturation
It's just an average pop song. Sounds like a bieber b-side
Digging: Swans - Deliquescence
I respect LP for the will to experiment with their sound, but really this song isn't in my opinion good.. their pop stuff never clicked with me and the same situation is repeating itself again now..
ATS was (is) one of the worst albums I have ever heard - 2 or 3 fun songs, everything else on that album is nothing or shit - Living Things was a step in the right direction, enjoyable electro/rock album and THP was a pretty good album, album that was basically a tribute to rock/metal/HC/punk bands the band members liked from the 90's and it is their 3rd best album released but if they are going fully "pop" direction on this new album, then well it's definitely nothing for me.. I expected them to go more even more experimental rock/metal or even somewhat prog way but it's their right to do whatever they want.. I never wanted from them new HT or Meteora, just some good rock/metal songs.. definitely not pop, but if other people like this new stuff from them then what does it matter what my opinion is
Yeah nah this is all kinds of cringe.
what a track lmao
Digging: Elder - Reflection of a Floating World
you know that moment when bands hit the bottom of the barrel?
Yeah this is it.
Digging: Gang Starr - Daily Operation
"This is good. People need to stop whining about Linkin Park changing their sound, they do it on EVERY album. At least they actually experiment and evolve unlike some artists who make the same album 5 times."
ahhh, the classic "I think people don't like change and therefore this song is good and not actually objectively terrible for other reasons" guy. There's always one and where would we be without them?
That awkward moment when people start to get nostalgia for albums that were considered bad at the time they were released
good song. Definitely not your average Linkin Park. More like Top 40 shit, but definitely not heavy.
Digging: Suffocation - Pierced from Within
@Jasdevi087 Music is entirely subjective so you not liking the song personally doesn't make it bad. Is it the greatest thing they've ever written? No, definitely not, but that doesn't make it terrible. You have to admit a lot of people are hating on this simply because it was released by Linkin Park. Those are the people I'm referring to. If you don't enjoy the song that's fine and you have every right to your opinion.
obviously ghost-produced by a team of people who are responsible for majority of latest pop hits.
this is a fucking atrocity
I mean, if you're gonna completely change your genre, why not do it under a side project? Curious to see how Shinoda factors into this.
This is literally better than anything off of The Hunting Party.
HT 2.0 is never gonna happen, get over it everyone. It wasn't even their best, second best, or third best album.
Certainly doesn't seem to be the consensus here.
Hybrid Theory is awesome, but it's one of the most overrated albums in existence and is essentially an inferior Meteora on every level.
I do prefer Meteora. What else beats HT though?
Minutes to Midnight and Living Things. My ranking of Linkin Park is Meteora > Minutes to Midnight > Living Things = Hybrid Theory > A Thousand Suns = The Hunting Party
A Thousand Suns and The Hunting Party are their two best albums.
"A Thousand Suns and The Hunting Party are their two best albums."
Most experimental maybe, but in no way their best.
Their best experimentation was done on MTM and LT, and it seems like this new album is gonna be on par with at least LT if "Heavy" is any indicator (a 4/5)
Fair enough. You do have it tied with Living Things but I guess there's a marginal preference that can't fit inside 0.5 increments.
Living Things is only slightly better than Hybrid Theory, literally like .1 better in my eyes. HT is more consistent, but the standouts on LT are so much better that I just can't overlook that.
"This is literally better than anything off of The Hunting Party."
I wasn't a huge fan of The Hunting Party (or LP in general, for that matter), but I really can't get behind that sentiment whatsoever. THP may have been inconsistent as Hell, but it at least sounded like they were putting forth a reasonable amount of effort. This just strikes me as bland, run-of-the-mill pop shit that would fit snugly on the store playlist at Best Buy.
check My Ticket Home - Strangers Only
Generic pop song. My opinion would begin and end their if this didn't come out after THP. I mean, THP wasn't amazing or anything, but damn it, it was fun and felt like these guys had gotten their shit together. This is just sad.
"Alternative rock-pop band" - i can't help but feel the autor slipped a passive-aggressive jab into the very first sentence of his news article
"@Jasdevi087 Music is entirely subjective so you not liking the song personally doesn't make it bad. Is it the greatest thing they've ever written? no you're right, the fact that this is fucking shit makes it bad and it would still fucking suck if any other band wrote it, we just wouldn't know about it
licks the taint
not mine, that shit licks the dirt off my boot
Well... If the whole album sounds like this at least everyone can unanimously agree on the worst Linkin Park album...
Digging: '68 - Two Parts Viper
Welp, Linkin Park finally did it. They can now stand proud among the other bands in the upper echelon of Playing-Quietly-While-Shopping-At-Home-Depot-core
"no you're right, the fact that this is fucking shit makes it bad and it would still fucking suck if any other band wrote it, we just wouldn't know about it"
Well at least you're acting mature about the whole thing.
To be fair this song is only bad in the "awfully inoffensive" way whereas Linkin Park are usually offensively terrible.
Wow, this is just...
Digging: Mutoid Man - War Moans
cowboy you really need to use quotation marks when you quote ppl man. it always looks like you're arguing w/ yourself.
Digging: Craig Finn - We All Want the Same Things
Or just use the quote tags
baby steps, mimsy.
you really need to use quotation marks when you quote ppl man
easier asked than executed, futures spent his three years on this site not realizing that
Shinoda won't be forced to do anything lmao. Sales don't matter, these guys are all set for life based on the royalties from everything they've already made, not to mention tour sales.
"obviously ghost-produced by a team of people who are responsible for majority of latest pop hits."
Yep one of the co-writers has written songs for Justin Bieber, Gwen Stefani, Selena Gomez and recently Maroon 5.
I'm sure this album will get a ton of reviews when it comes out, just like any Linkin Park lp
"Welp, Linkin Park finally did it. They can now stand proud among the other bands in the upper echelon of Playing-Quietly-While-Shopping-At-Home-Depot-core"
This made my day.
I liked this song. Up on the hypetrain!
But actually a fan should never expect a Hybrid Theory 2 or something else nu metal-like, as the band said a few years ago that this was their style back then and they changed. And even back then they never saw them selves as part of that movement. They understood themselves as crossover band between Hip Hop, Rock and Pop. Seeing them doing Pop now is just a logical step after like two Albums that were just made so the fans wouldn't cry too much (Meteora and THP)^^
Exactly. Chester hasn't screamed properly on record in 10 years since he fucked his throat, so it's highly unlikely they would go back to the heavy days.
I think this album will be decent, nothing will ever match the first two though
This is what Linkin Park have always sounded like, nothing has changed.
Straight off the bat they were this packaged and artificial.
One day you brats will see 90% of what's out there is exactly the same. Including tdag.
Well dude Meteora was released in 2004, perhaps the album you want to mention is living things
I am aware of that, I just wanted to show that making heavy albums for the sake of being heavy isn't a new phenomenon for Linkin Park. And I didn't ment to mention LT, as I think it is an album that found just the right line between being subtle and also being powerful.
Well the problem with linkin is that mike has the complete control over the band, everybody who has been [...]
I agree. Personally, I would prefer them going into more dark and subtle terrain like ATS and in some parts also LT or THP (only in parts...). But hey, they want to do a shiny Dream Pop/ Trap inspired whatever Album, and if they mastered doing ATS, they can do that probably too. Dooming them from the start is just shit in my opinion.
"This is what Linkin Park have always sounded like, nothing has changed.

Someone didn't have his nap today
Wasn't Living Things their attempt at 'Meteora 2'? Now we're asking for it again?
Digging: Kirin J. Callinan - Bravado
Absolute filth, what happened to Hybrid Theory and Meteora days
this is so insipid even by LP standards
Digging: Nickelus F and Shawn Kemp - Trick Dice
"Well dude Meteora was released in 2004, perhaps the album you want to mention is living things"
New song isn't a bad song for pop, but it's the worst LP song easily and the majority of people think so. Hunting Party had such a revival feel to it and then predictably they pull this pop stunt.
Digging: Currents - The Place I Feel Safest
If it's gonna be like this I'd prefer a new fort minor album
"I hope this album fails hard because with that fiasco they will understand that they made a mistake and they will be forced to make a heavy album or a more oriented rock effort."
I agree and I thought this same thing but I think they'd just hang it up and focus on solo/side projects at this point. The fact is they are globally massive and they deserve to be and this album will sell a lot regardless.
When Kiiara comes in the vocals/ electronics/ subtle guitar/drums sound
very similar to Lynn and PVRIS. I'd almost say it's nearly identical in style. Difference is that's PVRIS's style not LP.
This is pretty garbage. Chester just... doesn't sound good. It's just not a very good sounding song at all. The entire thing just sounds flat and boring.
Whoa this is shockingly bad...And that's coming from someone who thinks everything after Meteora is unbearable.
If I didn't know who the artist was (I mean, who in fuck's name is Kiiara anyway) I would think this was some one hit wonder flavour of the month top 40 track.
Digging: Yellow Magic Orchestra - Solid State Survivor
Disgusting. This is gonna suck for sure.
Whoa this is shockingly bad...And that's coming from someone who thinks everything after Meteora is unbearable.

That's all there is to say about this abomination. Agreed100%
This is gonna be like the time Coldplay dropped A Sky Full of Stars, except this is much, much worse
Digging: Anathema - The Optimist
Decent song, they could have eased up a bit on the female vocals. I hope this song is the slow breath of fresh air surrounded by heavier songs on the record.
The album cover makes me think of sort of a reinterpretation of Anberlin's Vital and Devotion artwork. I dig it.
Digging: Kingdom of Giants - All The Hell You've Got To Spare
Music is entirely subjective so you not liking the song personally doesn't make it bad.
This video should sport a shirtless Chester flashing his bling and grinding on this chick...also shout to the heavens in the rain
Boring as hell. Kind of Adele-like if we're talking about her weaker material. Doesn't even have nostalgia going for it.
Digging: Joanna Newsom - Ys
The fuck is this
Kiiara was actually the best part of the song and even she was average af, everything else was dogshit
Why is this entire thread 50% verm
ctrl f "CowboyInTheShell"
^22 of em
Digging: Murmuure - Murmuure
So sad that show ended
Verm, you really need to learn to calm down man.
Although I feel like I've said this to you a million times over the years.
learn to 1) calm down and 2) use quotation marks or quote tags
i'm willing to settle for 1/2
This is easily the worst single that this band ever written. I don't mind them taking pop route, but this is the worst way to write it. This sounds like a b-side of every top 100 artist. Lazy, unimaginative and extremely overproduced. They've shown they can write decent pop with ,,Around the sun", which is their most underrated album, but this is closer to what i consider their worst album ,,living things" jusr terrible
chester and mike could easily break off from LP in the future and create some hip hoppity pop shit like this if the other guys get sick of it, but the money is hard for them to turn down in sacrificing their creative control/contribution. i wasn't necessarily talking about dead by sunrise or fort minor.
Digging: Viktor Vaughn - Vaudeville Villain
as someone on youtube aptly said, "Even Nickelback released a heavier song than this"
This song is fake news.
'I don't know why everyone is so shocked. This is Twenty-One Pilots doing exactly what Twenty-One Pilots does. '
except twenty one pilots actually manage to have a little bit of energy
this is just the worst kind of slow tempo pop
It's a little early for April fools, don't you think?
imagine if tool released this lol
Digging: Captain, We're Sinking - The King of No Man
Where did Cowboy go
I'm generally a Linkin Park apologist, but this is trash. Hopefully the rest of the album will be better.
Digging: Seventh Wonder - Mercy Falls
"imagine if tool released this lol"
Man I would actually love to see the aftermath of that eh
EDIT__meant to put this on the Body COunt thread
Bit late on this but song is truly horrible.
Also for some reason I imagine one of the songs to have a chorus of ''ohh baby..''
Total crap no doubt
Battle Symphony is lol
^But it is better Heavy
"Hey we just made a solid album returning to our roots and modernizing our sound? What should we do next?"
"How about make an mediocre generic soulless pop record?"
somehow they managed to make an even worse song with battle symphony
this drop in quality from a band like LP will go down as one of the worst of all time
Battle symphony isn't quite as a bad as heavy but its still pretty fucking wretched
Those two singles are so bad it hurts by butt.
Digging: David Sylvian - Secrets of the Beehive
"Battle Symphony. Please just don't give up on me. And my eyes are wide awake"
SO....UPSET....COULD PUNCH A WALL. How were both of these songs allowed to leave the studio?
lincoln park is whack
Hybrid Theory fans, cop the latest Darke Complex album, this the HT3 you've all been waiting for, HT2 was pretty much Meteora
