WHAT
| |
it might just be because i'm used to his mars volta lyrics, but i kinda hate this.
| |
Can't wait for everyone to think this sucks.
| |
Meh, not feeling this at all. Still curious to see what the full album will be like. Afraid it's gonna disappoint, just like Refused's return...
| |
will be a hard 2/34
| |
oH FUCK HERE WE GO
| |
this isn't bad... but isn't that good either...
feels a little phoned in tbh
| |
sounds literally like an outtake from relationship or vaya. there's just no pleasing you fucking kids.
| |
Not bad at all
| |
Needs more riffs and dirtier vocals
| |
it sounds like a outtake that didn't deserve to make either one of those releases
really needs more riffs and jim ward
| |
rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrremedy. Stop, please
| |
cool have fun being disappointed
i'm gonna enjoy the shit outta this
| |
pretty meh song
| |
i mean I expect the album to have some great songs... I just didn't think this track was that impressive
| |
THIS WAS FUCKING AMAZING YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
| |
this was so inspiring including the lyrics. wow. I'm so happy. post-hardcore will rule 2017
| |
sounds way too clean and uninspired, realtionship was so good because it was energetic and all over the place
| |
this had a lot more bite to it than id ever expect from these geezers wow
last minute or so gave me a b0ner
| |
my only concern is that this alb is gonna b overproduced as shit ill bet
| |
Fuck yes
| |
Just listened to that and fuck that was so uninspired
| |
Outro kinda reminds me of Life is Peachy era Korn..... still I kinda dug it
| |
i enjoyed most of that. intentionally didn't read the lyrics but cringed a lil at "that's the way the guillotine claps"
| |
Just finished it
It's alright. I wouldn't mind an album of that. Probably gonna be like a 3
| |
why does this band have to write pretentious as shit lyrics
| |
Because Cedric Bixler-Zavala is one of the most masturbatory people to ever make rock music?
:D
| |
Yup. That's an ATD-I song, alright.
| |
Well it's def not a terrible song but yeah
| |
masturbation doesn't coincide with pretentiousness you twit
| |
That's what you think Snake, but I've seen the light
And the light is really bright, can someone turn it off? I can't reach it
| |
Am I actually fucking dreaming??
| |
Nice Try. Please reform The Mars Volta.
| |
big surprise this sucks these guys have always been a shit band
| |
Bringing the hipster bastard shit since 2000
| |
At-The Drive is hipster? I thought they were just boring
| |
p cool
| |
RoC 2.0. Fuck y'all that say otherwise. If they maintain this quality on the whole release this is a guaranteed 4+.
| |
Chuck you let me down.
| |
Yeah this is awesome
| |
[2]
H.A.R.D.
| |
It's alright. I miss Jim though.
| |
Freedom Mk.2
| |
Haven't listened yet. But damn, they took as long as humanly possible to release new music in 2016 like they promised.
| |
this is pretty damn good
| |
Thought it was aight
| |
you guys hating on this are sad. SAD!
| |
"sounds way too clean and uninspired, realtionship was so good because it was energetic and all over the place"
This is fucking filthy and Cedric sounds young again. Don't understand this comment at all.
| |
Song was alright. For those complaining that this needs Jim Ward, wasn't he part of the recording process and he only bailed on the band before touring started?
| |
I don't understand why anybody would think that this album is going to be anything but uninspired.
| |
Cause I listened to the song linked above?
| |
yeah this song is inspired and inspiring
| |
I agree w the comment that u quoted up there tbh. to each his/her own. luckily my expectations were super low for this so I wasn't disappointed. at least it's better than the refused revival lmao
| |
at least it's better than the refused revival lmao [2][3][4][5]
| |
If I slipped this into an early AtDI playlist and asked someone unfamiliar with the band to pick the song out of the bunch that doesn't fit, $$$ says they wouldn't be able to figure out which one was recorded in 2016.
| |
Not bad but not amazing.
| |
"At-The Drive is hipster? I thought they were just boring"
Ars I will harm you.
| |
Sorry Dad.
| |
I changed the locks. Have fun finding flammable material for the night.
| |
Yeah I don't get the disappointment. This rules.
| |
"OF PISS ANTS," lyric of the year lmao.
In all seriousness this song kicks ass. Yeah no screaming, but Cedric is kinda 16 years older than he was when he made RoC so...
| |
This is ballin'...just about what I expected from ATDI. Got me HYPE!
| |
Pretty cool.
| |
Finally some correct opinions flowing into this fucked up thread.
| |
First Drive-In song
| |
Is ok. Interested to see what else will be released.
| |
"First Drive-In song"
Go listen to RoC in full. Twice.
| |
yeah this is alright
| |
Who said this from the new album? It's free on their website.
| |
thanks blaze now I actually own the song yay!

| |
I thought this was decent. It had good ideas but it didn't really grab me.
| |
Not good
| |
song's okay
| |
The "guillotine claps" chorus bit is fucking trash but the rest of this is actually pretty good
The line about the woman eating her newborn is fuckin m/
| |
geeyateen
| |
This flows very nicely, kinda lukewarm about the song overall though.
| |
2017 will be the year of returning bands. ATDI, SOAD, Number 12... Now for Glassjaw to finally release something...
| |
How can we be sure this isn't just the second antemasque record with "atdi" slapped on the front?
| |
Song is ok, but ew why Rise Records though?
| |
Sounds shockingly close to their old sound, but with Antemasque-style Cedric vocals.
| |
Not bad!
There are few things I love more than Cedric in his full ATDI paranoid mode
| |
Heard this about a dozen times now and it's still fire.
| |
Man i dont care why cant these old bands just die peacefully youre never gunna top relationship just foad in peace bois
| |
I dig this quite a bit! Will be waiting patently while jamming their older stuff.
| |
At The Drive-In but 16 years later, this could have been a lot worse. I think it is a bit tame but I'll be jamming to this for the rest of december for sure.
| |
Thought I was listening to Mindless Self Indulgence for a second there
| |
Damn that's harsh Row haha
| |
It's not bad haha
| |
"Man i dont care why cant these old bands just die peacefully youre never gunna top relationship just foad in peace bois"

| |
definitely not what i was expecting, definitely a little overproduced and more on the catchy side then i'd expect from drive in but fuck that's still a sweet track
cedric sounds young as fuck again, didn't know he still had that in him
| |
Where's porch to lecture us about how this isn't real post-hardcore
| |
rise records lol what the fuck
| |
95 comments already, jfc. Gotta hear this
| |
I'm predicting an American Football/Refused return reception. Song is decent
| |
not enjoying it
| |
Is this gonna be another example of a band finally dropping new music after a long time in december and not releasing anything the year afterwards?
Still waiting on that album glassjaw...
| |
I don't think any band has the patience of Glassjaw
| |
I would have dug this years ago. I don't care now
| |
I mean I guess it's not as bad as Refused - Freedom
| |
How long did it take you to type all caps with dashes in between each letter
| |
It's alright, but it's pretty awesome to see these guys back. Hopefully this is one of the weaker tracks and the album is successful.
| |
Forgettable song, nothing catchy, doesn't flow.
| |
This is fucking great, the verse sorta reminds me of something SOAD would do
| |
good
| |
The mix could've been more powerful. Would've made this more fun. And a few more arrangement freakouts would add a lot. The song itself is okay.
| |
"Nice Try. Please reform The Mars Volta."
Nahh, the Mars Volta lost its thunder after their second album. At The Drive In >>> The Mars Volta
| |
Solid
| |
"I'm predicting an American Football/Refused return reception. Song is decent"
Considering I loved both of them I couldn't care less for people's reactions
| |
Refused reunion was p decent imo
| |
Never listened to this band before but this track was pretty good. I mainly liked the guitar work, not big on the lyrics or vocals but guitars were fun as heck yea
| |
i think reunions r generally better than most ppl wanna admit
| |
I guess people set their expectations too high. Like, people get old, they change, accept it
| |
cool
| |
it's alright, is it the full lineup?
| |
no, jim bakker left a few months ago
| |
"At The Drive-In return"
...in banal fashion. What a dull song.
| |
I didn't mind it that much. Just wish the vocals were a bit more intense
| |
"Never listened to this band before"
dafuq.
go listen to RoC
| |
song's ok
| |
i thought it was the most average song ive ever heard
| |
I liked it. Looking forward to this.
| |
Eh, it's fine. If the song had the energy of the last minute all the way through, it would've been better.
| |
Love it
| |
could be worse, could be better. still holding out hope for the album. Cedric sounds great.
| |
verses sound like System of a Down
| |
lol nah but good try
| |
I didn't expect to like this as much as I do. The bridge is pretty fucking infectious
| |
this song is damn good, not as good as RoC but still a more than decent song, excited to see what the albums gonna be like
| |
Meh wasn't feeling it as much as the hype was
| |
really dig the track. not huge on the production and still skeptical bc no Ward, but this is a strong start
| |
all the production comments, relationship is one of the most overproduced albums ever. It literally glistened. I like how this sounds a little more gritty and he's singing in his old man range. it will grow on me
| |
Song is musically on point, the lyrics are pretty embarrassingly bad though, even for Cedric. But that doesn't bother me much.
| |
Solid 15/10.
0 fucks given.
This is great....you guys are lame.
| |
Would I find this band appealing if I dig Mars Volta's first 2 albums?
| |
Listen to them and find out
| |
Finally got around to listening to this. I was nervous. For some reason I hate when people say, 'my darling,' in any song and I wasn't too big on the chorus, but overall I thought this was pretty good or at least better than I expected.
| |
you've been traumatised by la dispute
| |
I THINK I SAW YOU IN MY SLEEP
LOVER
| |
what's the point in making a return that sounds like standard fare
| |
begins with a m and ends with a y
| |
misandry?
| |
lol nailed it
| |
damn is anyone else super bummed Jim Ward left? he was always my favorite part of the band
| |
not enough off key shout-singing for an atdi song
| |
Wasn't great, but definitely not bad. Nothing compared to any Relationship or Vaya track. I loved the guitar sounds on this and the grittier production in general. However, I wish Cedric would deliver a more intense performance (I understand aging, though) and the chorus felt super awkward and juvenile. Which sucks cause they have notoriously strong choruses and I feel like this one was the weakest part of the song with its awkward drum beat and little kid vocal melody. Oh and hoo boy, those lyrics.
| |
Lyrics were standard Cedric TBH, nothing has ever shocked me since 'I'm starting to feel a miscarraiage coming on'. Song was solid. An album like this with a few unexpected highlights would be a totally welcome return!
| |
^Agreed
| |
These lyrics are fun.
| |
I mean Frank Turner's are better, sure, but most bands' are objectively way worse.
| |
@milliondead
As soon as I saw your username I simply had to blast "After The Rush Hour". Such a jam, the nostalgia is real.
| |
This LP will be their Sing The Sorrow. Meaning astonishingly rad, but they had better never record anything after it ever.
Ev.
Er.
| |
Glad I could remind you of it, iChuckles. That song and the whole album and band are stellar. I heard "I Am the Party" in high school and never looked back.
| |
Not bad, the guitar work is pretty sweet but the vocals could be a little dirtier/angrier to make up for those meh lyrics.
| |
Still really bummed Jim Ward is gone but this song has grown on me a lot
| |
tis ok
| |
ight this shit grew on me so hard
slaps like a mofo
| |
i like the singing really, I loved Vaya like everyone else
it's the overly modular feeling of the song that makes it feel a bit insincere - the instruments are separated, the musicians are separated, the elements of the song from verse to transition to chorus are separated and a lot of teh punkiness is sapped by the process
guess that's how they like it these days
| |
the production leaves a lot to b desired ill give u that
still smacks tho, pumped for the full length
| |
agreed. dudes just need to get in the same fuckin room and hit record a la in/casino/out. that record has the raw energy that the production here is definitely missing.
| |
Really don't care for this
| |
