Good song. It's pretty much RTJ doing RTJ things, but i'm not complaining. The beat is awesome.

blows
| |
RTJ by the numbers, good but nothing special.
| |
I'm more interested in the album art. Hoping the background is green this time!
| |
yawn
| |
Severely overrated duo
| |
Interesting. It's a little weird but then again so was "Oh My Darling, Don't Cry".
| |
Anti-hype track
| |
wasn't bad, not super impressed, not disappointing though
| |
Hipster rap
| |
Kinda seems like an intro track. Instrumental is excellent per usual, and they're definitely playing to their strengths, even if it is a little run-of-the-mill. Allegedly this album is going to be way more aggressive, so I'm looking forward to something more driven from them. Need a full cut of that last sample they dropped a while back.
| |
Still kind of excited, but I might eat my words after this...
| |
go wash your mouth with bleach sleepys
| |
i dont get why people like run the jewels
| |
"Critics want to mention that they miss when hip hop was rappin
Motherfucker, if you did, then Killer Mike would be platinum"
| |
this was awesome
| |
I don't get why people dislike Run the Jewels
seriously when did these guys become the new thing that's cool to hate
| |
They got overly praised and annoyed people who didn't like them as much which intensified their disdain. But it happens to any big album/band on here.
| |
actually its cuz i think neither killer mike nor el have the chemistry and style to match their production or each other. two perfectly fine rappers on their own, but together, theres nothing interesting going for them.
but yeah, we can assume its just cuz theyre popular so its cool to hate.
| |
nah if that's how you feel it's a perfectly valid reason to not like them, safe to say I completely disagree but whatever
| |
Well it's not like people usually give a reason like you just did past saying this is actually shit
| |
I don't necessarily dislike them, I just don't think there is really anything in either album that warrants a >3.5.
Haven't heard any solo Killer Mike stuff, but El P is way more interesting on his own inferring from the few non RTJ related tracks I've heard him on. They just sound like they write a bunch of cool sounding lines, put them in a hat, and pull them out one by one to write their verses, and the beats are relatively the same on every single track on both albums. Neither of them sound too good on top of these beats either imo, especially Mike.
This track just sounds like same old same old, and when they have been doing what they did here for two albums in a row already, it gets old.
| |
that soundcloud link is not right at all and will lead you to a brick wall

https://soundcloud.com/adultswimsingles/tracks
| |
All in all this rtj song is another brick in the wall.
| |
i told ya'll
| |
RTJ doin RTJ and doin it right
Yeah, it's nothing new, but it's a fuckin banger regardless
Bring RTJ3 the fuck on
| |
I've also heard rumblings that this might be the last RTJ album for a long while and El-P and Mike are gonna go back to their solo works. If that's true then I'm fine with RTJ3 being more of the same, if it is.
| |
"actually its cuz i think neither killer mike nor el have the chemistry and style to match their production or each other. two perfectly fine rappers on their own, but together, theres nothing interesting going for them."
agreed so hard, killer mike brings out el-p at his least inspired beat wise, and a non-intellectual lyrical side of him as well that i definitely do not prefer over his older solo stuff. and then killer mike in general is just bad so...
| |
i like killer mike on his own. to their credit, their first album had some good cuts like Sea Legs and A Christmas Fucking Miracle, but nothing outside of those few tracks have been interesting in the least. They just sound so out of place over the beats El-P produces on these projects. Some other rapper could probably pull them off a lot better... not that I know who.
| |
killer mike on his own is even worse than with elp tbh
| |
ive only heard R.A.P. Music from him, which is pretty good... though it looks like you rated it kinda low lol.
| |
this is not good
| |
I know a lot of people who like these guys that don't like rap.
| |
Yeah, I like about a handful of rap/hip-hop and these guys are part of that handful. The genre as a whole doesn't really engage me
| |
mike is fine but i always feel im just waiting for el-p to show up every time i jam a track by these guys...
| |
about 1 in 4 of killer mike's punch lines hit. the production's nice
| |
pretty cool, very much sounds like the first song on an album
whatever the hell I even mean by that, idk
| |
not a great track tbh.
| |
it's aight
| |
i get u aids
| |
Killer Mike is aids
| |
pretty meh song
| |
''Killer Mike is aids''

They posin

thats definitely it
| |
Great track.

Rules
| |
Hoping for a good Despot guest spot on the album.
I like RTJ, I've seen them a couple of times and they're great fun live. That said El-P seems a little bit in his comfort zone with this so I hope there is some more outlandish production on other songs.
| |
I feel like there could be a bit more anger, they sound a bit comfortable. I'm sure I'll still pick this up when it comes out tho.
| |
I enjoyed the song, nothing crazy but a sneak peek into what is hopefully another great album
| |
"that soundcloud link is not right at all and will lead you to a brick wall"
That's because I included "https://" in the link; I took out the s, so that should make it work now. Try it out to be sure.
| |
Lol the soundcloud comments are so obnoxious
| |
didn't think people hated rtj so much
| |
they stil have 4.1 averages at the end of the day.
| |
I dig them, but this was really underwhelming
| |
"i dont get why people like run the jewels" [2]
| |
users trying too hard to be art students itt
| |
lol
| |
Soundcloud fanboys are cancer, but holy carp this is a good intro track. RTJ playing on all their strengths, in spades.
| |
SO basically people explaining the reasons they like/don't like run the jewels and classic userbase completely ignoring them to seem cool
| |
no, people on here generally LOVED rtj after RTJ2 was released, then popular/outspoken users (fucking pots, jk its cool) started chiming in more and you know the rest....
so basically its classic sputnik hivemind, where so many users are insecure babies seeking validation for their opinions and instead of thinking critically follow opinions of established users to fit in
that said, i really dont care if you dislike rtj, and especially dont care if you have good reasons
| |
youre dumb
| |
lol vaxxxxxi insecure
| |
dangler you cant just edit your comment to include "i dont care if you dislike RTJ if you have good reasons" after you proclaimed all RTJ hate is from insecure schmucks like me.
| |
'lol vaxxxxxi insecure'
brb making a "rate my 5s" list.
| |
dude this happens all the time on this site, its not just RTJ
edit: oops read you comment wrong
and that edit came like 5 seconds after i posted it haha, wtf lol
why you would interpret it as 'everyone who doesnt like run the jewels is insecure`is fucking hilarious tho
| |
another mediocre track by RTJ .... still REALLY LOVE EL-P solo work !! Fantastic Damage is better than both RTJ albums combined !
| |
duh, Fantastic Damage is a hip-hop classic
same with Company Flow's (El-P group) Funcrusher Plus
| |
yeah still some mediocre nonsense el-p please stahp
| |
fan dam and funcrusher plus are both stone cold classics agreed
| |
I mean, I still like RTJ, but to compare it to El-P's early solo stuff, Cannibal Ox, or Company Flow and you're going to have a bad time
| |
