Kid Cudi checks into rehab

2016-10-06 by toolpeth182 | 26 Comments
From the article:

Hip-hop artist Kid Cudi, real name Scott Mescudi, has revealed that he's checked into rehab for "depression and suicidal urges."

The Cleveland native made the shocking announcement to fans on his Facebook page, writing, "It's been difficult for me to find the words to what I'm about to share with you because I feel ashamed. Ashamed to be a leader and hero to so many while admitting I've been living a lie. It took me a while to get to this place of commitment, but it is something I have to do for myself, my family, my best friend/daughter and all of you, my fans. Yesterday I checked myself into rehab for depression and suicidal urges."

Glad he's decided to get help. Hopefully more with the same feelings will follow suit.

Honestly, his music has been subtly reflecting this side of him for a while now and I'm really glad to see he's finally taking steps to rectify it. Seriously wish him the best of luck, hope he comes back a happier individual because I don't think he's capable of making good music the way he currently is.

^ i know this is a music website, but the quality of his music after this rehab is way down the list of good outcomes from it

Obviously. I guess my point above was more that you could tell he wasn't quite right just by hearing his music. Of course I hope first and foremost he becomes a happier and stable individual after rehab. But as a fan I also want to see him enjoy making music again. Didn't mean to come off as if only the music matters.

His Facebook posts already displayed some huge mental issues. Good for him that he is now tackling this.

Regardless of his artistic reputation, it's good to see Cudi going out of his way to better himself.

Dude was arguably near the top of the game in 2009, two back to back successful records and features with David Gueta, can only imagine how much of a blow it is to fall so far.

it's great that he's so candid about this but damn if it doesn't hurt that he actually feels ashamed

no one should be ashamed of being depressed. ever.
