Beach Slang Streaming on NPR

2016-09-15 by TheSupernatural | 23 Comments
NPR is currently streaming Beach Slang's new album, A Loud Bash of Teenage Feelings. The record is the Philadelphia trio's second full-length album, releasing less than a year after 2015's The Things We Do to Find People Who Feel Like Us.

Clocking in at just under a half hour, Beach Slang continues to explore the avenues in the familiar distorted sonic landscape of their previous work. The album officially releases on September 23.

Basically more of the same but "the same" is really great.

"Basically more of the same"
nice
guess I'll love this for 3 or 4 listens and then find it really unsatisfying

"Young Hearts is so good"
was that one the first time they repeated the song on here, or the 3rd? 6th? 8th?

Isn't the lead singer like 40? Why is he still talking about teenagers?

I'll still jam the shit outta this

"was that one the first time they repeated the song on here, or the 3rd? 6th? 8th?"

wat

"Isn't the lead singer like 40? Why is he still talking about teenagers?"

Who cares as long as he does it in such a genuine way? I think it's exactly the point behind it. He is not talking about teenagerlife for teenagers from their perspective, but about thinking back to it as an adult and imo that feeling gets conveyed quite successfully.

That makes things even better. I always assumed his lyrics were written from the perspective of his 20 year old self.

What I wrote was just speculation, dunno what his actual thoughts behind it are. But that's what I get from it when listening.

dunno it sounds the same as the last one. i mean THE SAME like some songs follow the same structures and hooks as their previous LP

Their songs sounding samey was already my biggest critizism for the last record but it makes up for it in the way its delivered to you.

This is The Things We Do... minus the magic. I listen to this and it's good but I feel nothing.

@Sowing

Also don't think it's up there with Things We Do but in your case that means it can still be a 4, right?

I rarely say this about any band, but it seriously feels likes every one of these guys' songs are the same thing.

Have to agree with ashcrash on this. First two EPs were fun but now it's becoming recycled.

Yeah I tried to be objective in the news article but man this sounds really 'samey' to everything they've done so far. The EPs were fun, the first album was a little adventure, but this is the exact same thing for an additional half hour. I think they have the talent to do more, I just want to see them actually do it.
