2016-06-10 by hobblepot | 24 Comments
American Metalcore band Crown the Empire have released a new music video for their new song "Zero". The track is the first single released from their upcoming studio album "Retrograde", which will be released 07/22/16. You can watch the new video here:

The band claim the new album will feature a different sound from their previous LP's, and will not be a "story album" as their previous albums have been.

I dig it. Also why is the screamer playing guitar now?

Their previous guitarist left the band. I also really dig this

Ah that's a shame, hopefully that doesn't affect his live performance because every time I've seen them he's been the best part

First time listening to this band, not bad. Vocals are nice.

Nothing Special but decent enough. Wish some of these bands would do something different every once in a while. Go outside their comfort zone.

I really like this but from the teases it seemed like they were gonna shoot for a different sound this time around.

It's okay, same standard approach they've always gone for. I still think their vocalist sounds like every other clean vocalist try-hard in metalcore these days.

I think it does sound different to their previous stuff, not by a fuck tonne, but it is distinctly different. It's more alt. metal sounding I'd say, less metalcore. Idk been listening to these guys since their EP, I think this does sound different.

I've heard that chorus in 100s of pop songs, but the overall song is pretty decent.

From the previews they've been posting on social media it sounds like this album is going in a different direction from their previous two. This sounds like more of the same but maybe that's because it's a single.

their breakdowns are always pretty awesome.

This is probably just the safe single so that they don't drive away the larger part of their userbase when they show off the more experimental side of the album (them vocal melodies in the original teaser promised something nice)

They're playing Hologram at warped but so far there are only shitty videos of it. Like here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yndLECvevBc

The quality is shitty but damn, them clean vocal trade off melodies are gonna sound fuckin' sweet on the studio recording.
