wait there are no punk or metal bands at Coachella?

there's a few punk bands there, notably The Damned and The Vandals who are completely out of place

any metal bands other than Deafheaven?

(Coachella ain't big on metal nor are Pitchfork; the reason I bring this up is I feel the latter's coverage and the former's lineup are noticeably correlative sans some of the headliners)

@jwt155 how the shit does the original gnr lineup not constitute as "heavy hitters?"

i'm not even a fan but there's no denying that's a big deal

also the return of lcd soundsystem i mean come on

JWT155

LCD Soundsystem Reunion is great but they hardly light a candle against past headliners like Paul McCartney, Tool, Depeche Mode, Arcade Fire, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and other bands that literally have universal appeal and were still highly relevant and excellent live when they performed. LCD Soundsystem is awesome, but for the most part they're a niche band that doesn't have have the universal appeal of the bands listed above. In terms of GNR, they haven't been relevant for nearly 2 decades, Axl Rose already canceled his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel tonight (what a surprise...) and in my honest opinion their set is a disaster waiting to happen.

LCD Soundsystem and GNR aren't terrible picks but ones a very niche based band lacking universal appeal and GNR are a band over the hill that haven't been relevant for decades, with an incomplete lineup lacking Izzy and will most likely be a disaster of a show.

Glastonbury??? If you travel to the US from the UK, Governors Ball, Firefly, Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza usually have decent lineups. I'd do Lollapalooza before Coachella, Chicago is a great town.

Festivals have definitely shifted from being a music lovers paradise to a weekend of advertising and catering the lineup to the lowest denominator of teens and college kids. Promoters are now more worried about selling tickets than actually providing a top tier festival lineup.

Ive been to Coachella twice and Im over it. Ive been to Bonnaroo a few times as well and even though the lineup lacks in comparison, Ive had a lot more fun there. Its also way cheaper.

Probably doing Moogfest, Bonnaroo, and Fun Fun Fun this year tho

it worked when i did the presale in june, i'm assuming it will work tomorrow. i would open both just to be in case. it's borderline impossible to get a weekend 1 ticket at the general onsale these days the line is way too long. not many people know about that AMEX or have one so it's a lot shorter/nonexistent on that one
