I'd all but given up on these guys

Well then.
| |
Omg omg omg!
| |
This shit is FIRE.

out of all the things in expected, this wasn't one of them.
| |
STOP EVERYTHING
| |
Giving Tuesday, amirite?
| |
SO HAPPY. New Thrice next year... if new Glassjaw then mind = blown.
| |
it's good
| |
Song is alright now that I'm listening to it, there isn't much going on in it though.
| |
Neat
| |
According to Pitchfork this IS the first song from their 3rd album and "More details on the LP will follow". I'll believe it when I'm actually listening to it lol
| |
pitchfork is making an assumption i assume
| |
According to someone on another website that's actually part of the press release, but I've yet to actually see the press release so idk
| |
Yeah, I'll believe it when it happens. On the other hand, I'm going to see them in March, so if there's a new album out by then...
| |
Not the digging the vocals much, he should just ditch the singing when they songs go heavy like this but otherwise I like it a lot
| |
YESYESYESYESYESYESYESYES
| |
Never fully got into these guys, but I can dig this song. Bass is delicious
| |
Just talking to a friend how glassjaw needs to release new something. Fuck, this shit is awesome.
| |
Good song. Nothing "WOAH" but it sounds like Glassjaw so I'm pumped
| |
Oh yes.
| |
Helvetica, the band!
Holy shit though, this has made my day
| |
best song they've made holy shit
| |
So fckn hype
| |
not crazy about this track, but their last two releases have been ACE
| |
Yes, "holy shit" are the only appropriate words i can think of.
| |
I wish there was some harsh vocals
| |
It's okay, nothing mind blowing. If this is gonna be on some future release, I feel this would be one of the weaker tracks. But hey, Glassjaw releasing anything is always welcome.
| |
song is awesome. what a rad surprise
| |
Different sound for them. The production is especially different. I'm not sure how much I like it but I know it's good.
| |
That bass tho fuuuuck
| |
fuck yes
| |
After listening several times, that ending is amazing.
| |
Not a total suprise. Redoing their website, Billy Rymer confirmed on the new album, and announcing a huge tour doesn't point the compass to a band doing huge new things?
Wait, I'm like the only one that pays attention to GJ anymore...ha
| |
The two new members are Chad Hasty and Travis Sykes from Glass Cloud. Good to see they went on to bigger and better things =)
| |
this would be the logical progression after Worship and Tribute, really. an album in the Coloring Book style would be cool too but this just sounds... right.
| |
a little weak. though i didn't really like the direction they started going with worship and tribute, so i suppose it makes sense i wouldn't dig this
| |
This sounds more like EYEWTKAS than anything from Worship
| |
Sounds pretty amazing.
I jokingly said on the Thrice new record news that Glassjaw will beat Brand New and Tool to releasing a new album, if that's happening then I'm stoked.
| |
HOLY SHIT YES
| |
that bass is fucking filth
| |
though yeah i'm with you guys that i wish daryl had just gone ham
| |
needed a scream or two but otherwise it rules
stoked for the album
| |
"The two new members are Chad Hasty and Travis Sykes from Glass Cloud"
No way, would not have expected that
| |
Guessing they like glass
| |
unexpected but decent
| |
fukc
| |
I think the new record is gonna be a mixture of tracks like this and tracks like what we heard on Coloring Book. Calling it
| |
Nah man its going to be heavy af
| |
link is broken or the song is down
| |
song is dee-hee-hee-cent!
| |
it's been taken down for some reason
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mo0FtQ_OrvM
| |
This song is a mess.
I LOVE IT.
| |
nvm it's working again
| |
sucks dick
| |
Really good song, the vocals sound a bit weird tho. I'm just hoping their next album is more like our color green than coloring book
| |
HOLY FUCKING SHIT
| |
I'm happy that they're still kicking but it didn't make any impression on me, I may say I don't like the direction they went after Worship & Tribute
I'm just hoping their next album is more like our color green than coloring book [2]
| |
Messy production is sick. If the album sounds like this and Daryl does harsh vox its gonna slap
| |
so surprised this is good
| |
It's pretty good, not as good as our colour green and colouring book, but I'm still excited for the album
| |
"I'm just hoping their next album is more like our color green than coloring book"
This, but a continuation of the Coloring Book style would be nice too. This song sounds a lot more like a W&T b-side or bonus track. Not really digging it tbh, but it's solid.
| |
"I'm just hoping their next album is more like our color green than coloring book [2]"
no way
| |
I'd be cool with like half Coloring Book-type sound, half ham for the new album if it exists.
| |
I'm definitely okay with this. I got into these guys with John Lennon and Siberian Kiss, so I was disappointed when none of their other songs were as heavy as those two.
| |
Love these guys but the song is pretty weird. I dig the bass but it seems like bass, guitars and vocals each do their own thing. the song doesn't feel whole to me...pretty messy. but I'm curious about how this will hold up in the context of a whole album.
| |
This is cool. I heard bits and pieces from their last EPs, but nothing ever grabbed me enough to make me listen to all of them.
| |
fucking dope
| |
pretty good
| |
wow, looks like these guys are going to make new music
AFTER ALLLLLLLLLLL
AFTER ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
| |
HYPE THOOOOOOOOOOO
| |
that bass tone is everything
| |
very nice!
| |
Listening to it on decent headphones or stereo makes a world of difference
| |
da bass
| |
Fuck yes!
| |
i mean it's pretty good but a little underwhelming
| |
Leaps and bounds better than Refused's comeback...
| |
certainly sounds like glassjaw
| |
nicee need to hear. reminds me i heard coloring book recently and forgot how good it was. now that was a pleasant surprise when it came out
| |
I'll show u my white extremity if u know I mean ;]

I'm definitely pumped for a 2016 with Thrice and Glassjaw.... and Saosin.
| |
Does Saosin still have the guy that replaced Anthony Green?
| |
no green is back
| |
Wait- really? It's not that Cove guy?
| |
Nice!
| |
@dbizzles
http://www.altpress.com/news/entry/saosins_anthony_green_reveals_release_timeline_for_comeback_album
Yup. Got an album coming out this spring apparently. Hype.
| |
Great song
| |
Damn, Greenman, I don't even know how I feel about that. I pretty much hated or was disinterested in everything Saosin has put out between now and his initial departure, but I respect Green so much that I will have to see what they're up to know.
| |
I love Translating the Name enough to be hyped about it, but between a new Saosin and a potentially new Glassjaw album, I want Glassjaw
| |
Though it kind of brings back bad memories now, Translating the Name was one of the definitive "albums" of my college years. It'll be nice to hear new stuff from them with Green
| |
I could never understand the appeal of this band. Their two albums have like 4.1 and 4.2 ratings. When I listened to them, they felt very common. Not bad in any way, just yeah, cool, common.
But now, thanks to this song, I KNOW ! Glassjaw is a more chaotic, noisier version of Deftones. And now I understand why it is so highly regarded on sputnik.
| |
Yeah this song ruled. Wasn't even expecting a new album since I thought Daryl a few years ago said it would probably never happen. But this has been the decade of comebacks so not surprised.
| |
smae
| |
Love it! I really hope they release a third album this time!:-)
| |
I love Green and Saosin. But yes Glassjaw are leagues better. New song is cool.
| |
My apologies for any offense cause by enjoying both Glassjaw and Anthony Green. My apologies also that I rolled my eyes just now. This track kills it, but I also need some variety in my life.
| |
I definitely don't expect most Glassjaw fans to give any positive fucks about Saosin or Anthony Green. We just got a little off-topic, I suppose.
| |
Translating the Name is a classic
| |
"pitchfork is making an assumption i assume"
its fish so im almost positive he doesnt even realize the irony of this
| |
omFFFFFg
| |
omFFFFFg
| |
vocals sound like exotic animal petting zoo on this one
| |
dam no seattle date I'd drop by the venue to catch a glimpse
| |
did not like song nearly as much as i wish i did
| |
^^ that's how i'm feeling. pretty underwhelming honestly
| |
didn't know you dug GJ pots
| |
oh yeah dude
| |
I really dig im. I'm hoping that if there's a full length it'll fit really well in context
| |
production is quite grating too
| |
are you a coloring book man or a W&T man tho
| |
i was a w&t man until i stopped listening to glassjaw and then coloring book and our color green came out and then i was a coloring book and our color green man.
| |
the only thing i ever really wasnt was an el mark and an everything you ever wanted to know man
| |
good assessment altho El Mark has tunes
| |
everything you ever wanted is the best tho
| |
there is only one song on el mark i really like and everything you ever wanted is good just doesnt touch w&t or the color eps
| |
W&t is the best even though everything else comes pretty close
Tho
| |
coloring book > W&T > EYEWTKAS > El Mark > OCG > KKBB
| |
Kiss kiss bang bang doesn't count go away
| |
rofl i dont care about the rest of the ranking at all but putting el mark above ocg u deserve to have your balls peeled with a citrus zester tbh
| |
yes it does bish
thats were the "motel of the white locust" ending poem originated
| |
This song just needs some screaming thats literally all it needs
| |
^
| |
all of glassjaw's best songs have screaming imo. idk i think a vocalist like daryl has such a talented range it's a waste when he does the colouring book pseudo homogenous whine. like i still like it, but he's capable of being way more dynamic.
| |
Song is ok.
| |
yeah screaming is so dynamic
| |
Not only that but the riff is a bit grating
| |
I think the riff rocks hard
| |
lol i'm obviously not saying exclusively screaming, i'm talking about the worship and tribute type menagerie where he flits about but whatever you knew that really.
| |
still waiting on that new head automatica album
| |
"still waiting on that new head automatica album"
It's apparently been done for years, it's just never been released.
| |
THE BEATING OF YOU HEART BABYYYYA! Never could get into any of that.
| |
I know a ton of people that love it. Maybe I would enjoy it these days, I don't know. It HAS been over 10 years since I've heard it.
| |
Color Film > Head Auto honestly. If the Text On Image EP is anything to go by
And it's rumored that is was only the first of FIVE songs released in the press kit. Supposedly GJ sent out half of the new album to the press and told them only to release and comment on New White Extremity to start 0___o wouldn't be surprised if they do the OCG route and release a new jam every month until the album proper drops.
| |
"Yup. Got an album coming out this spring apparently. Hype."
lol
| |
lol
